Did you see Klipsch has come out with a whole new line of soundbars and is sunsetting these?

Yes...

Klipsch has even created a series of support articles for the Flexus soundbars where you can learn a bit more about them.

Would folks here recommend preemptively replacing the power supply inside the cinema 600 soundbar rather than waiting for a possible failure? Can other components (audio processor electronics, etc) be damaged by the power failure (aka brownout failure)?

Also, has anyone had issues with the subwoofer power supply?

I have a used/refurbished cinema 600 on the way, looking to try to give it the best chance possible. I have extensive electronics repair and soldering experience.

Thanks,

Peter

I can confirm this works for the Cinema 600. I used this power supply from Amazon. Some notes:

The hex screws on the back are standard sized. I ended up having to use hex keys, which really sucked because the number of screws, but everything I have is metric, so, that sucked.

One the 110V side I stripped back the insulation and you pull down on the levers, then insert the wire. The spring holds the wires in place.

On the low voltage side, as you're looking at it on the edge, the 24V is on the left and 5V is on the right. I confirmed this with a multimeter and urge anyone doing this repair to confirm this.

In the 5V side, the red and white wires go together into the positive side. Black goes to ground.

I did drill an extra hole and used the standoffs on the original board to secure the new power supply to the back panel. The hex size on these is smaller than the hex screws that secure the back panel to the case.

Thank you so very much for coming up with this! Thanks to you good folks, I fixed my out-of-warranty sound bar for just $13!

Thanks for the writeup — I used this to swap the power supply in my 600 this afternoon and it has now come back to life. Thanks to everyone who came up with this solution; after reaching out to Klipsch and being told I was out of warranty and there wasn't anything they could do I was dreading buying a new soundbar. Spending $15 on a new power supply was way better. :-)

Regarding replacing the Cinema 600 power supply with the recommended Amazon one, can anyone tell me how the 5 wires connect to the four blue connectors on the board. Already connected the black and red power cables. Thanks.

 - 24 V  left -  5 V right

-  GND   black cable,

-  VDD   white cable

-  STB   red cable

-  5 Volt  side   -  the  white cable +  smaller plug red cable together

Hi everybody, I just got dealt the same issue. My problem is I stay in South Africa and we operate on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.

I am not a electrition but really want to fix my soundbar myself. They have been dicontinued here and I really like it.

Will this NOYITO AC to DC Isolated Power Supply Module DC 24V 4A 5V 1A Dual Output Power AC 120V (90-256V) 50-60Hz to 24V 5V 120W Industrial Power Module (Dual Output 24V 4A, 5V 1A, Blue) work in my region too?

Thanks in advance!

2 year update after starting this thread: my Bar48 is still working great! Got tempted by a heavily discounted Cinema 1200 the other day, but I think I’m a bit too emotionally invested into this Bar48 to replace it. 😄

Waiting on part now to try this fix. Bet it works! Man thise are tiny Allens. Good thing for my security bit set. Appreciate this thread!

Almost 3 year update- the power supply still hasn’t missed a beat! With that said, the Bar48 has been replaced with a Cinema 1200 so I’m not sure how much more long-term testing I’ll be able to do. 😅

Really happy to see that this repair is working out for so many people!

You will just need to find a dual-output power supply like the one on Amazon that takes in 230V instead of 120V. I’ve seen a few options on AliExpress, so that could be a viable option for you!

I'm new to the community and looking for some advice on my Cinema 600 soundbar.

Below are the symptoms we've noticed:

1. Three weeks ago, the white LEDs stopped working (sound bar volume and sub volume).  The Red LED still worked, but was dimmer than usual.

2. Last week all LEDs stopped working, and the soundbar would not automatically turn on with the TV.  Most of the time we would have to turn the TV on, then off, and then back on within 10 seconds and then the soundbar would work fine.

3. In the last 2 days, its required more power on/off cycles before it would start to work.  I can tell when it will start to work because I will hear static coming thru the soundbar first, then after a few seconds the static goes away and the bar sounds as it should.

Question:

Do these symptons seem typical of a "failing" power supply? or is something else starting to fail.

Note:

I've been in contact with Klipsch customer service, and I'm too far outside of the warranty for them to fix/replace it.

Thanks for all the help guys! I received the power supply above from Amazon today and it worked great. At first, it did not power on. I then removed the STB cable and it came back on. I then put the STB cable back and it still worked. Not sure what casued this but the STB is now comined with VDD in the far right of the 4 blue inputs and it's powering on.

At the moment, it seems like the Klipsch 3's and wireless Sub does not power off anymore after switching off the soundbar. I am not even bothered about this as I am just so excited to have it working again. 😂

I sincerely appreciate this thread and everybody who contributed to help me resolve this nightmare. Thanks all the way from South Africa!

Hi DrewKrew,

Yes, the symptoms point to a power supply that is about to give up completely.

Hi Klement,

The STB cable need not be connected if you're using the Amazon replacement. STB is a signal output from the controller chip towards the original power supply unit, without the latter there isn't any need to keep it connected. You may try disconnecting it to check if you'll regain the power off function.

Thanks, I did power on with the STB disconnected too, will test and see if removing it again will restore power off for wireless sub and 3's. - I appreciate your response. THANKS!

Hi Everybody,

I have created a clear diagram to show how my own setup worked. I am sharing this to contribute to the thread and help others who also have zero technical electronics skills. I have been advised that removing the STB might help the satellite speakers and wireless subwoofer power down when the soundbar is powered off. I have not yet tested this, but my setup is currently working as shown in the attached diagram. - I have seen on this thread that the 3 smaller wires are not always the same colour as the diagram, make sure you link yours as per descriptions of each cable.

(If there is a way to improve the diagram, or any changes needed let me know) 🏆

Great info.. this thread saved me hundreds of dollars. The $15 power supply from Amazon was all I needed. The dimensions are different, but it fit into the cabinet with minimal effort. Klipsch needs to get their support policy in line with their product reputation.
