Because I was focused on the tweeters, I measured a range from 4500Hz to 20kHz. The room conditions, equipment, and all parameters were kept the same. I took three measurements before and after changing the tweeters. I "burned in" the new tweeters for about 8 hours before measuring them. This chart shows the average of the measurements, with 1/12 smoothing: Your scale in the Y direction is too shallow to Clearly show that the K-77 is down by 25 db at 20 Khz.! Good Plan, since you already have the tweeters you can still listen to before then, right?

We will all want to see pics once you get your LSs refinished!
MookieStl
I agree, the SMAHL v2 w De120 is a very noticeable upgrade. By a wide margin. Very happy I took the plunge.
Mycuff
I too recently upgraded my K77s to Dave's SMAHL V2 tweeters. They were a snug fit and the bolt holes lined up perfectly. Sound is fantastic, a great improvement over the originals. Here is a closeup installed in my 1986 La Scalas. I would probably paint them but they are normally behind a grill. Well worth the nominal expense for the quality of this virtually indestructible tweeter.
