PHIL O
I found a pair of Heresy's at a local pawn show in pretty good condition (as far as I can tell). 1) Is $399 a fair price? 2) I put a deposit on them and I'm going to go pick them up, so I don't have a Serial Number on hand, but I read that Heresies have MDF cabinets, well these seem to be solid wood, maybe birch or oak, I'm not sure. Is anyone familiar with these? 3) Where can I get a pair of emblems for the grills?
justin_tx_16
i don't think they are MDF that is a good price, $300 would be CHEAP on eBay, plus $50-100 in shipping. So you are on par and you get them now. i say go for it. what is the serial number?
PHIL O
I put a deposit on them, I may go pick em up this week, I'll have the serial number then. I'm so anxious to get them home, I may put them in the room and run it off my 3802, later on adding tubes to power them.
Clint Phare
It's a good price. The Heresy's were made of marine grade baltic birch. Buy 'em!
HDBRbuilder
Heresys were never made of marine grade baltic birch...the decorator models were made of 9-ply custom-ordered cabinet grade birch plywood...void-free...whereas the finely veneered models were made from veneered lumber-core plywood until sometime around 1989. Clint Phare
Da*n salesman! He lied to me. Told me they were made of marine grade baltic birch. I think it was around 1975, I believed it all this time. ACK!

HDBRbuilder
Dale...just look at the plys...there are two veneers of birch sandwiching 7 plys of core between them...Georgia-Pacific was the supplier in 1975 and the plywood was a custom order from the plant...void-free stuff. Now...there was a time BEFORE the birch plywood was used that marine-grade FIR plywood was used, but yours are after the changeover to the birch plywood....providing yours are decorator models. PHIL O
HDBR where can I find the emblems for the Heresies?
HDBRbuilder
It depends on the year they were made which emblems are correct for them...any emblems used prior to the advent of the rectangular metal ones are no longer available...but the rectangular metal ones are still available...just call Klipsch customer support and ask for Trey Cannon, and he can square you away.
