Phowells
Hello All, My Forte IIs have a dead K-61-K voice coil in one speaker. I'd like to bring these speakers back to life but I am having difficulty finding a replacement part. I done some googling and contacted Crites looking for a replacement but haven't had any luck so far. I wouls like to buy a pair of new voice coils but at this point I would considor: - a used voice coil - a used or new K-61-K (with a working coil) - an equivilant replacement driver Hoping somebody out there can help me source the parts I need. Thanks in advance Paul
DirtyErnie
Where are you located? any major metro area should have a speaker repair shop, or there's Speaker Exchange in Tampa. Many other repair recommendations should show up in 3... 2... 1...
winglet
K61-k is the klipsch designation for the k53K driver intended to be used in k602 horn combo. Any k53K driver will bolt on to your existing horn. OO1
@Phowells I got good news for you , klipsch Parts sell a Titanium Midrange diaphragm assembly , however , you'll need to replace both diaphragms , the older type diaphragm is no longer manufactured ,the titanium unit fits the Forte II
winglet
You’ve probably done so already, but.. Checked the wiring to the bad driver? Swapped the bad driver into the good speaker and still dead? Measured the resistance of the bad voice coil? It wasn't cheap so hopefully it will solve the problem when it arrives. I haven't measured the resistance of the bad coil but I did swap the horn to confirm that the issue isn't with the wiring. If the used coil doesn't work or of it does not match well then I will give Klipsch a call but I did read that the part was no longer available from Klipsch.
