sb in SC
I have recently purchased the Reference 3 series of speakers. Can anyone comment on the relative low power rating of the H/K 325 used in conjunction with these speakers. I am hoping it sensitivity of the Klipsch will compensate for the lack of power in the 325. Orange Peel
One thing to remember it's not just quantity, it's about QUALITY! Harman Kardon under rates their receivers and has EXCELLENT current from their receivers, giving you constant, clean power. And don't let the wattage fool you, that AVR 325 will rock any Klipsch speaker. My AVR 520 is insane, never blinks an eye no matter where the volume is set, and I will soon have RF-7's getting the 520's attention. I highly recommend HK to anyone, you won't be dissapointed in any of their receivers!
Juba310
Awesome, 'cuz I'm pretty sure im getting an avr-125 soon.
Orange Peel
I had the AVR 125 before the 520 and really liked it. I just wanted a little more power and the other options like the ability to add an external amp, the 125 doesn't have pre-outs for that. The 520 has multi-room capability too, and other stuff I liked. You'll like the 125 I promise.

sb in SC
Well, my wife put the smack down on me getting the 325, I had to settle for the Pioneer 811s. It is being shipped. From the specs, it looks okay. I will start my own private slush fund to save for a replacement in a year or so.
Orange Peel
Damn that! You'll probably like the Pioneer just fine, but start saving like you said, HK all the way
fabulousfrankie
Orange Peel, I just got a AVR520 and love it. My brother now wants one of the lower end HK's. I know the technical differences between the different receivers but I was wondering if you could comment on the sound quality difference between your two HK's. Jordan Kjome
I have the 525, and I say, if you can afford it, get it! Not only does it decode and process everythng, as well as have lots of power, but it has 7 powered channels!
Pathos
I don't want to ruffle anyone feathers or start some debate about a quality receivers vs a non-quality or brand debates. I looked up the specs on the AVR525 and it looks like it is 75w per channel at 0.07% THD. My Yamaha RX-V1000, a little older mind you, but a a 1000 dollar unit is listed as 100w per channel at 0.04% THD. Is this what "clean" power is? Just asking for a little more info. glennbarn
Pathos, I too was a bit hesitant at the thought that HK got only about 75W per channel plus the 0.07% THD. Here's some of the things I found out. Try to check what is the rating in Amperes of your RX-V1000. I have not yet seen this value supplied by Yamaha in their brochures. Ampere rating is important, because its the current ( measured in Amperes ) that really drives the voice coil of your speakers to produce the sound, not the wattage, hence the name "amplifier", not "wattifier". "Clean power" I think means that even driven at very high volume and dynamic range, speakers are still producing less distorted sound. To achieve this, your amplifier or receiver will need enough ampere rating to drive the necessary channel(s).
