derik
I've been having trouble finding a good place to buy vinyl online. There are no good dealers that I know of around me. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks for any input.
kjohnsonhp
What are you looking for? Style, price range, rare, common, etc.
derik
I'm looking for classic rock and heavy metal mostly. Some rare, some common, not too expensive.

ChrisK
Try these - www.gemm.com www.acousticsounds.com www.amusicdirect.com www.mymusicfix.com www.sundazed.com www.audioasylum.com - click on vinyl, do a search using the words "vinyl online", you'll be amazed. That should keep you busy and broke for awhile. Regards, Chris

jt1stcav
Believe it or not, www.amazon.com has a fair collection of rock on vinyl as well. Check out their "zShops/Music/Vinyl": http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/ts/browse-zshops/68342/002-9630605-2318466 Happy hunting!
kjohnsonhp
I've purchased a lot from stores during my travels. For $1 and 50cent lps of overstock --platinum sellers usually--I like HALF PRICED BOOKS in Dallas area and AMEOBA RECORDS IN SF & Berkley. Some of the more obscure indie or college rock majors can be found, too. For $3-$10 I've found some good stuff at Half Priced Books (mission of Burma, Volcano SUns, VU, white label promos, Half Speed masters). ebay is ok for certain lps but shipping is pretty high for one lp so I like to buy in bulk from sellers getting rid of their collection or specific hard to find items. I just bought LAND of the LOST by The Freeze. Condition is a crap shoot on ebay...with many taking a glance at an lp in a dark room and declaring it MINT. I normally like to see them. Specialty houses are usually too expensive or out of stock. Big Record shows like the Austin record convention are good. Here's an example of a few places I've shopped in the past year. Bart's in Boulder,CO has a pretty good selection. The Love Garden and Lawrence,KS has a good indie selection, Detroit had a few good stores, Seattle seemed pretty picked over or expensive. Portland was avg St.Louis was pretty good for me I don't think I found the right stores in Atlanta (I ended up at a hip hop store) I used to like Newberry Comics in BOston but haven't been there in awhile. Oaklahoma City has a couple good stores but I forgot the names. I've been trying to get to LA./Orange County so maybe next month.
Yossarian
If anyone is ever in Pittsburgh there is a good used vinyl store called Jerry's Used Records in the Squirrel Hill area.
