tuber
Please help, I used Tung Oil on my oil finished Khorns. I didn't like shinny look, or the tacky feel so I applied a generous coat of double boiled linseed oil, now the wood looks like it has received a thick coat of high gloss Urethane, and it remains tacky to the touch. Any advice on how can I remove the hole mess without damaging the veneer would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Bob
Terry N. Cruse
Me too. One set of oiled walnut CWs have been Tung-ed. I am ready to French rub both pair. (no play on words intended) How do I get rid of the Tung oil. Help Andy! I.B. Slammin
HDBRbuilder
you gotta strip off the tung oil finish in order to get em back to the original oil finish. Tung oil is NOT the same as an oiled finish...it is a totally DIFFERENT type of finish!

Would the 00 steel wool dipped in oil work? This is my first pair (1972) that I sold to a friend and bought back 20 odd years later. He used Tung oil on them once. They still have a gloss to them. I would like for them to match the oiled pair(1975. Man I would realy hate to have to take them down all the way? Thanks, Terry

edster00
How would you recommend removing a lacquer finish on a pair of Cornwalls?
tuber
Terry N. Cruse, Good news Minwax Antique furniture Refinisher will remove the Tung oil without removing the finish underneath. Just clean them up and re-oil. I tried it tonight on a small space near the back, worked like a charm. Hope this helps. Bob
