  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FINI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hit 53 this July Bob
  3. Ki Choi I have a pair of 1975 Khorns and a pair of 2002 Khorns. The only way for me to compare them honestly is to drag one pair out of their corners and replace them with the other pair. By the time I accomplish that I can't tell the difference. The 75's may sound a crumb better but the 02's are prettier. Don't sweat the difference it's not worth it. Bob
  4. I've been there, I feel your JOY. Bob
  5. I have a variac installed in my system full time the amp is turned on and off slowly every time I use it. No way I would leave the house with the power left on. Bob
  6. DRD = Direct Reactance Drive An amp. cct . by Jack Elliano The driver tube is connected to the output tube without the usual cap or transformer, a choke also known as a reactor is connected in parallel with the output tube. Bob
  7. DTLongo, I agree with the previous comments as well. Re: the glue on the grill cloth, did you talk to Klipsch ? I received my 2002 Khorns two weeks before christmas last year, one tail board was damaged in shipping. I received a replacement from Klipsch BEFORE Christmas !! Nothing wrong with customer service like that

  10. Terry N. Cruse, Good news Minwax Antique furniture Refinisher will remove the Tung oil without removing the finish underneath. Just clean them up and re-oil. I tried it tonight on a small space near the back, worked like a charm. Hope this helps. Bob
  11. mOOn Sorry to hear of all your troubles, I feel your pain. I have been taken on ebay to. It can be a real snake pit. My worst experience was a multimeter ($340.US) seller got my money I got nothing. Square Trade was zero help, law enforcement couldn't help because I don't live in the US. Everyone beware!! Enough of my sniveling, I hope everything works out for you. Bob
  12. Please help, I used Tung Oil on my oil finished Khorns. I didn't like shinny look, or the tacky feel so I applied a generous coat of double boiled linseed oil, now the wood looks like it has received a thick coat of high gloss Urethane, and it remains tacky to the touch. Any advice on how can I remove the hole mess without damaging the veneer would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Bob
  13. Thanks mOOn, the picture is priceless. Congrats on the new speakers. Many years of happy ears. Bob

  18. If you like to tinker tube amps are where it's at, just by plugging in a different tube you can change the sound of your amp. They are less completed to build as well, just be aware the voltage present in a tube power supply will give you a jolt you will not so forget. Bob
  19. Add me to your list. rkerr@mb.sympatico.ca another Canadaian PayPal ok
  20. All the best Justin, get well soon Bob
  21. I'm not sure I can express my self well enough to be under stood but here goes. The signal you hear coming out of an amplifier is not the input signal made larger or more powerful. You are hearing the power supply. The output transformer or transistor is connected in series with the power supply this signal is what operates the speakers. The input signal controls the output through the power tube or transistor but the electricity comes from the power supply. Picture a man standing under a tank of water with a pipe attached to the bottom of the tank He opens and closes a valve (very quickly) in the pipe. The tank is the power supply. The water coming out of the pipe the output to the speaker, and the man (or woman) is the input signal controlling the output. That's why the power supply is so important, what comes out of the supply goes into the signal going to the speaker. Bob
  22. Hilltop just passing along what I saw, as for HDBRbuilder's comment on the tailpiece I recently replaced one myself his description of the job is right on the money. Bob
  23. Hey Dale I probably did meet your dad as I worked for Roger Gagnon at Thompson Automotive Clinic from Jan. 73 until Jan 74, but I don't remember him. Davis bay was renovated in the 80's and is going strong. The town stayed about the same until the mid 90's then things started to grow, a bunch of new houses were built in the Burntwood area down by the river, some very nice ($200-300 thousand) and two new strip malls, we have most of the usual things that you used to have to go south for Mc D's, WalMart etc. some things never change though, the mosquitos are still the size of small birds ( I saw two of them fly off with a can of Raid last summer, said they were going to get high) The night the school burned we were working at the shop, white coveralls were the norm, the volunteer fire fighters also wore white coveralls so we got to slide past the barriers set up by the police and get a good close look. Man what a blaze. The fishing is still good, I'm sure you would enjoy a visit.
