  1. Hi Ray, Modern High-End Valve Amplifiers by Menno van der Veen an excellent place to start, even I can follow this one Radiotron Designer's Handbook by F. Langford-Smith (the holy grail tube of theory) Fundamentals of Vacuum Tubes by Eastman Hope this helps. Bob
  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FINI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hit 53 this July Bob
  3. Ki Choi I have a pair of 1975 Khorns and a pair of 2002 Khorns. The only way for me to compare them honestly is to drag one pair out of their corners and replace them with the other pair. By the time I accomplish that I can't tell the difference. The 75's may sound a crumb better but the 02's are prettier. Don't sweat the difference it's not worth it. Bob
  4. I've been there, I feel your JOY. Bob
  5. I have a variac installed in my system full time the amp is turned on and off slowly every time I use it. No way I would leave the house with the power left on. Bob
  6. DRD = Direct Reactance Drive An amp. cct . by Jack Elliano The driver tube is connected to the output tube without the usual cap or transformer, a choke also known as a reactor is connected in parallel with the output tube. Bob
  7. DTLongo, I agree with the previous comments as well. Re: the glue on the grill cloth, did you talk to Klipsch ? I received my 2002 Khorns two weeks before christmas last year, one tail board was damaged in shipping. I received a replacement from Klipsch BEFORE Christmas !! Nothing wrong with customer service like that
  8. avman Please except my condolence's as well, it seams we have more in common than just Klipsch speakers. Nothing I can say will make you feel better ( I wish there was ) suffice it to say I feel your pain. Best wishes from Bob & Daisy
  9. Congratulations Lynnm, welcome home !!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like you got a great deal. Bob
  10. Terry N. Cruse, Good news Minwax Antique furniture Refinisher will remove the Tung oil without removing the finish underneath. Just clean them up and re-oil. I tried it tonight on a small space near the back, worked like a charm. Hope this helps. Bob
  11. mOOn Sorry to hear of all your troubles, I feel your pain. I have been taken on ebay to. It can be a real snake pit. My worst experience was a multimeter ($340.US) seller got my money I got nothing. Square Trade was zero help, law enforcement couldn't help because I don't live in the US. Everyone beware!! Enough of my sniveling, I hope everything works out for you. Bob
  12. Please help, I used Tung Oil on my oil finished Khorns. I didn't like shinny look, or the tacky feel so I applied a generous coat of double boiled linseed oil, now the wood looks like it has received a thick coat of high gloss Urethane, and it remains tacky to the touch. Any advice on how can I remove the hole mess without damaging the veneer would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Bob
  13. Thanks mOOn, the picture is priceless. Congrats on the new speakers. Many years of happy ears. Bob
  14. Thank you very much Art!!!!!!! Papers arrived repackaged by Canada post with a note apologizing for the damage, the envelope was torn but the contents were ok???? I have received boxes of tubes marked FRAGILE that were crushed and mangled without so much as an oops, go figure. Anyway thanks again, happy listening. Bob
