NOZ
Hi all, Just a quick question. Can I use ALK crossovers with Alnico drivers in La Scalas? I was told I couldn't, and that They require The regular K-77m tweeters and K-55m squakers. Looking at buying another set of Las... lynnm
I suspect that others will have more to say but I cannot see any good reason why the magnet material in a speaker would have any bearing on the characteristics of the Xover network. So long as the Xover points are the same for the drivers the ALK's should be fine. The magnet material might concievably have an influence on the driver's sound but I suspect that that is another of those Copper vs Silver wire arguments
Dflip
Al Klappenberger can be reached at: http://www.alkeng.com/klipsch.html (website) alk@alkeng.com (email) I think the restrictions you are talking about are reflected in the Cornwall II's and Heresy II's, but I could be wrong. Ask Al, he is very helpful.
Audible Nectar
I have a similar question regarding the 1988 Cornwall II. Is it possible to drop a type B crossover from an alnico era Cornwall into a 1988 Cornwall II? I ask because I am convinced that a crossover upgrade would really improve the later "II" versions of this speaker, whereas I find the type B in the older Cornwalls to be quite good as they are. NOZ
Dflip, I know, Al has been very helpful to me when I built my own ALK x-overs. I didn't want to bug him again without needing to.
