msaiba
I have Awia CD player which gives out 20 Watts per channel, can I use my Klipsch quintets from this CD player??? I noticed some smoke coming out of one of these two speakers and went dead?? Am I not supposed to use this combination?
artto
LMFAO Are you sure that's 20 watts of "output power". Or that the power consumption specification?
msaiba
I am sorry I did not give enough details, the cd player was an old one with 20 watts per channel and 6 ohms, but the speakers were 8 ohms.
Griffinator
Not a smart idea. You'll torch that CD player with a higher ohm load speaker. Plus, no matter how efficient the speaker is, you'll be lucky to see 10 watts at the higher ohm load.
Trooper
Actually higher impedence (ohms) is easier to drive. If it can actually drive 6 ohm speakers then 8 ohm should be fine. I'm not sure what you did to get smoke from the speaker though.
Griffinator
Oh - wait - that's right - the amp will run more stable at 8 than at 6, but its output power will be significantly reduced.
msaiba
Thanks for the reply guys , I opened up the speaker and found no damage, I guess it was because one of the speaker connections lose.
odiedarklord
A speaker somking from a lose wire I'm not so sure of that you might want to check that speaker on a different source before you think that it is fine and it is not, just a thought.
