SoldOnEpic-JT
I love the sound of Onkyo. I don't have it, but may soon... Onkyo 595 ------------------ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Epic CF-3s Onkyo bias
RogerG
I concur. However, get the Integra 5.2 if you can. Upgraded parts, better build quality, styling, gold plated inputs, etc. Bargain with the dealer. I paid 420.00 for mine.

t-man
I got my Denon AVR681 (same as 1601) for $300. It has a retail of $499, and is a great unit for the money. I wouldn't recommend it for mostly music, but it's wonderful for HT. Very transparent receiver, but lacks bass if you don't have a subwoofer. Would probably be better for music w/o sub if you added a passive EQ. T-man
decibel man
Has anybody checked out the Outlaw unit that is $600? That looks like an interesting unit, but I have yet to talk to someone that has one. DTS-ES for $600 seems like a good deal. If any of you have one or have heard one, let us know what you think. JT
1velcro1
I am using the Yamaha HTR 5460 (identical model is the RX-V620). runs retail for $499. Amazing reciever- great natural stereo sound, crisp clear DD, and DTS- (sound like a Yamaha comercial 5 channel stereo mode,- Component and s video switching. 4 optical, 1 coax digital input really like this reciever, great sound! ---j. t-man
decible man, Check out: http://www.audaud.com/audaud/OCT00/EQUIP/outlaw1OCT00.html The 6.1 is for dolby digital only, and not for DTS. Still seems like a good buy. T-man
mustang6
Decibel Man My brother has the Outlaw receiver. All I can say is that it is one of the best sounding receivers I have seen. A great value for the money. They spent the money inside of the unit where it counts. Overall I would highly recommend the Outlaw. It will not do DTS ES, it will do DD EX or also known as THX EX. Thanks Mustang6 This message has been edited by mustang6 on 05-10-2001 at 02:12 PM
Quenten
The new Yammies are in, 3 models to choose from. Top dog is $499.00. Gives you 5 channel stereo, componet video switching, Top Art Circuitry, etc, etc, etc. I think they are trying to compete with Wal Mart! decibel man
Thanks guys for the information. That link was a very informative review. I am helping a friend put together a system and we are looking at low cost options. The 1050 seems like a very good deal at $600. Happy listening!
