justin_tx_16
Ok, about to buy a headphone amp that is a mix of tubes and solid state... i think... here are the specs. Specs: Hybrid tube headphone amp with MOSFET outputs (Best of both worlds); Quality components: ALPS blue pot volume control Solen caps 2 6H23-EB tubes 2 separate headphone jacks; Analogue inputs: 2 RCA (L&R); Pre Out: 1 RCA (L&R); Frequency response: 8Hz - 110kHz (-3dB); 8Hz - 60Khz (-1dB); THD <0.05% (Vrms:1V;1kHz); Package includes: stock tubes used Amperex A-frames pair of NOS DuMont 6922s installed (tube boxes included) IERC dampener/cooler/RF shields are also included Ok, so after reading all that and looking at the picture, what do you think? Price is $300, not steep at all for headphone amps. This is intended to power my Sennheiser HD-600 headphones which is what he used the amp for. I don't know the brand or the model, he is going to get back to me with that information. The specs for the HD-600's is as follows: Frequency Response ---------------- 12-39,000 Hz Transducer Principle Dynamic -------- open Nominal impedance ------------------ 300 ohm Characteristic SPL @ 1 kHz ---------- 97 dB Load rating ------------------------- 0.2 W THD Less than or equal to ----------- 0.1% Ear coupling ------------------------ Circumaural Thanks guys. sunnysal
Justin I would still suggest staying with a name branded amplifier versus one of these low production jobs, better something tried and true. stay with creek, grado, headroom, something like that. Deang
I don't know Tony, that looks like a very nice unit for $300. Heck Justin, go for it -- the internals are beautifully laid out.
tpg
That appears to be a very nice amp. I read a little about it. A guy on Head-Fi is selling one (I assume that is where you got the $300 price tag, since I think they are a lot more than that...). If I had $300, and wasn't buying up tubes and such for my own upcoming testing/amp building, I would have jumped on that thing! But... I am a little short money-wise (though not much) and my own testing and designing is more important to me. If you get it, I don't think you will be dissapointed- it got a very positive review, and looks absolutely beautiful on the inside.

tpg
Ahh... the luxury of buying ready-made things... I am the one who is difficult and builds my own. And that is why I am still using the same pretty good amp... Congrats! No doubt, you will enjoy it.
