Geo1
Well, it's installed, biased and connected to my Quartets and it sounds great. This is my first tube amp and, so, I'm really feeling it out and listening for the tube "sound." First thing I notice is that it takes the edginess off the highs and upper mids. I was using a Panasonic SA-HE100 before and really have to say it sounded good with the Quartets. But now with the tubes, I do notice that the sound is smoother without any loss of detail, or highs, or bass. Very happy. BTW, before bringing it home, I hadn't told my wife I bought it. So when I carried it in in the rather large double box it was shipped in, it was impossible to hide it under my shirt. When she asked what it was, I remembered that someone had posted previously that, under such circumstances, one way to avoid the potential confrontation that can arise around new equipment that hasn't been cleared with the spouse was to pretend not to speak English. Scratch that one. Doesn't work worth a damn.
Deang
Sometimes you have to implement some creative thinking. So, what did your wife think about the nice decorative glass table heater you bought for her?
Geo1
When I'm allowed to speak, I'll ask her.
bkrop
LOL ! My LaScalas arrived friday, my wife took it remarkably well. No yelling just a casual aside about some sort of speaker sickness. She even thinks they sound great. So I am just going to have to wait for the inevitable dust up to begin. Nervously waiting...

Geo1
The Jolida uses two 12AT7's, one 12AX7 and four EL84/6BQ5. Like I said, this is my first tube experience, so I'm not sure what it's "supposed" to sound like, but it sounds good to me. Actually, all my wife said when I told her what was in the box was that I should have told her I had ordered it. She's right and, over the years, has been remarkably tolerant of this hobby.
