avman
nice!! you may also consider using the same antenna you use for off-air digital reception(what? you don't have one?!! ) as a fm antenna. just use a 2-way splitter and hook it into your receiver. NOTE: follow grounding recommendations as per the national electrical code, and please use a surge protector that has an antenna cable connection. avman. ben.
I've got a good aerial for TV use w/ a rotor. Can I just use that for FM as well with a splitter? I suppose I could just try it.
3dzapper
Sure. The FM band is just above channel six VHF in the spectrum. Any VHF antenna will shine as an FM receptor. I have a little RCA Ministate up in the attic that I use with excellent results. Rick

m00n
Ok so I have my impression... You know at the end of the second "Home Alone" movie. The scene where they are all in New York by the Christmas tree and the older brother sticks his fingers in his mouth to whistle, only he *CANT* whistle so what comes out is a raspberry sounding slobber thing? Ok, well in my impression of that I also raise my hand up high and say. Hey, you can get an external antina for FM? How good are these things? How far away of a signal can you pick up? I didn't know these things existed.
avman
what i am suggesting is that if you are using an antenna for analog tv OR digital tv reception, use a 2-way splitter and hook it to your receiver. if not, then there are a variety of antennas available. look at terk's offerings if you want an indoor application. avman. m00n
Oh... ok. In general, are they better than my stock antina that came with my receiver? Terk eh? Ok I will go look for them on the internet.

m00n
Is it just that the sound quality of existing channels are better or is it also that you can get stations further away... I hope I can get channels furhter away because there's one I REEEEEEEALY would like to get but it's just out of range at home. I can pick it up in spotty locations in my truck to and from work. There's the Radio Shack one, which is $45 (antenna is only $21 but it doesn't include the mast or 300/75 ohm transformer). Radio Shack antenna There's also the Antenna Peformance APS-13. I've read reviews of this on the internet and it's the best you can buy for picking up far away stations but it's also the most expensive. APS-13 Now that I have my Radio Shack one up, I think if I had to do it again I would of gotten the APS-13 since it comes with all the parts you need and picks up stations from 300 miles away. But I also have a lot of trees so maybe it would of been overkill..
m00n
Whoa! $220.00 bucks? Jeebers man, that better be one hell of an antina.
MichaelShaffer
Yea, now that I think about it you could probably get an XM Radio for less than that..
