synthfreek
I think my next upgrade will be to my cd player. The tube cd and sacd players seem very impressive and I've read pretty great reviews on both. Do any board members have any on-hand experience with any Shanling gear? The SCD-T200 and CDT-100 are the specific models I'm referring to. I'm finally seeing enough jazz titles to warrant the purchase of a sacd player BUT I'll always have thousands more cds so the cd performance must also be there. jt1stcav
Both the CD and SACD players look similar, and do have excellent reviews. I've never auditioned them, but from what I've heard from the Music Hall mmf cd-25 HDCD player (also built by Shanling), all their products are first rate and fabulous sounding, especially the former two players with tube output stages. This Chinese manufacturer is top notch high-end all the way!
Allan Songer
I normally don't care all THAT much what a piece of gear looks like, but these Shanling CD players are the UGLIEST pieces of Audio gear I have ever seen. I'm reminded of a Hyundai with gold-plated accecnts. YUCK! I guess you could hide it away in a cabinet if it sounds really good . . . I've heard you say the exact same thing about other pieces of gear lately. I think it looks pretty cool myself. Anything but black metal and plastic looks good on new gear to me these days. jt1stcav
Definately not your standard CD player, that much is true.
maxg
Definitely not one to have around if you have kids!! I would give that a life expectancy of about 2 hours in my house. Anonymous balck boxes have their advantages. Now if this was to go into my batchelor pad.....
