olypenamuse
I was asked to repair what I believe is a Klipsch Amp. It has no model number, the control panel is black with Klipsch Inc on it. Also says "A Legend In Sound." Has a power switch, on/off/auto, Phase switch 0 or 180, Av switch +3db, Highpass switch 40 hz or 80 hz. Rca line out and in left and right, plus sub. Two knobs, Lowpass 40hz to 120hz and Level 1 to 11. Speaker hook ups left and right Hi level out and Hi level in. The only numbers on this panel are 118294 in small print below the 120 AC 330 watts 60 hz in plug. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. fini
Could it be a ProMedia amp, for the 2.1 system? You could ask this question in this forum category (located just down the main forum page from the "Home Audio" section). Photos would certainly speed up the process, as Tony points out. Let us know if you need help posting a picture. fini
olypenamuse
Here is a picture of the amp, and I also reposted with a picture under the forum you suggested. Thanks, George

cc1091
I can't tell you what model it is from, but I know it isn't from the Reference RP-3 or RP-5 speakers. It also isn't from a KSW-10 sub.
BigBusa
that's definately a promedia sub amp. Klipsch outsourced the early promedia line to china. I'm not sure if the newer PM's are still made there. The quality of those chinese made systems was terrible. The sub amp were one of the notoriously bad components in the systems. I read about some that literally caught curtains on fire while in use. Many many many of these sub amps fried and were returned to klipsch. Unfortunately, klipsch didn't fix the problem. They simply sent out another subwoofer or a comletely new promedia set to the customer ...who had to pay shipping one way. As you can imagine that new set soon exhibited the same exact problems...sometimes right out of the box! I talked with folks on their 4th warranteed set of promedia speakers. Klipsch probably lost a lot of future customers because of the promedia fiasco. Go have a read in any of the promedia forums. You'll start to see a pattern immediately. You know, a smart ad exec could use that to Klipsch's advantage. fini
olypenamuse
Well after checking all the components in this amp. I have narrowed down the problem to the power supply, an open 100ohm 2 watt resistor and some other components pretty close to fried. I can see where heat would be a real problem in this amp. It is enclosed in a plastic shell that is screwed to the control panel. There is absolutley no ventilation except for some small vent holes on the panel. The owner uses it to power his home sound system. I will pass on the heat and fire danger to him. Thanks for the info. George
olypenamuse
Well I got the owners manual from the owner and it is a KSW 150. I want to thank everyone for their help. George
