swami49
The tweeters of my Cornwalls have cut out completely. I switched amplifiers, and tested amp with other speakers, also changed source. No noise, no vibration at any volume. This out of the blue, and both speakers at once. I am befuddled. Any suggestions? Thanks.
lynnm
Your amp ate your tweeters ! You will need to order new diaphragms or have a pro rebuild your tweets for you. What kind of an amp were you using and how loud were those poor old Corns singing when Le Merde struck Les Blades Whirling ??
Cut-Throat
I concurr with Lynn. I'm guessing that you had a Solid State amp that was over 100 watts per channel - Just a guess!
swami49
You are both correct about the amp. Parasound 1200, 210 wpc. And it sounded so good! This is very depressing. Does Klipsch sell the diaphragms? And do I need to dump the amp, or just lower the volume? It was pumping out pretty loud... And as I am writing this Bob Crites comes to the rescue... Bob, please let me know what is involved in a rebuild and the cost of doing it myself vs. sending it to you. Again, can I still use this sweet amp, or will I just be sending money to Bob on a regular basis? Thanks to all. Sam
garymd
Back in 1980 I blew both of mine with 160wpc SS. Luckily they were under warranty and I was sent new ones. Mine were sounding good also. They went about 2 months apart. I didn't learn my lesson the first time around. I've been good ever since. Good luck.

I would suggest that if you enjoy the sound of that amp with the Cornwalls that you get the tweets redone and place a framed enlargement of the cancelled cheque next to the volume control of the amp where you cannot fail to see it whenever you check the volume setting. ZAKO
It has nothing to do with the amp. But alot to do with the nut behind the volume control.
Strabo
If they are built anything like the tweets in my Forte's then relax, they should be a piece of cake to fix (granted they are still available). Last week I damaged one of mine while adding dampening. Replaced them both in a matter of minutes once I had the replacement parts.

I will slow down. It was also suggested I put a fuse between the xover and the tweet. But then, that's like putting a governer on the aforementioned Ferrari. djk
Cornwall or Cornwall II ? Minor changes may be made to make the speaker virtually bullet-proof. Changes are model specific, need the crossover model number.

swami49
It is the Cornwall with a B-3 crossover, and k-77M (square magnet) tweeters. Sam
