big c
My question is about the type of analog cables being used. What's a good rule of thumb for buying cables, I'am lookig at the DENON-2900 or anything in that price range. What's a good match for that kind of player. arthurs
I use the 5-channel analog bundle from cobaltcable.com from my 2900 to my pre great price, great build quality, great sounding cables.
MrMcGoo
It is best to avoid analog cables and use i.link (Firewire) to let the receiver do the digital decoding IMO. However, if you do go the analog route, a shorter cable is better. Bill
PhilMays
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think with the universal players you have to have analog cables to get DVD-A & SACD. On my player I am connected with Kimber Kable and for the DVD section I have fiber optic and component video connection. I used some cheaper cables for the component connection and I saw "shaking" in the screen. I upgraded to Monster video and have been pretty happy although I am waiting for the Kimber Kables. Bruinsrme
firewire forthe pioneer47ai and 49txi. Hopefully in about 2 weeks the pionneer 59ai will be delivered. Still the connection will be firewire or i-link which ever one may prefer. If not i would recommend testing various wiring configs and see what u like best

Smilin I would rather buy better equipment, and If I notice something wrong, then FIX it by trying more expensive wire!
dougdrake
Try a couple of component video cables from Radio Shack. They are well built. Or, you could even use their A/V cable, which is 3 identical coax cables (the same as a component video cable) and is a little cheaper than the component video cable because of marketing.
