FritsF
I bought a PIONEER SACD/CD/DVD player and am unable to get 5 channel audio reproduced from the DD5.1/V5.1 combo when I play an audio only SACD. Is the DD5.1 not suitabel for SACD?
stark16
No, I believe only an SACD players is capable of decoding that signal...highly proprietary from what I've heard. I think you're stuck using the analog outs on that player straight to your speakers. To get true 5 channel audio without enabling Pro Logic, the DD-5.1 needs a DD/DTS encoded signal. How are you connecting the SACD player to the DD-51 btw? What Pioneer model do you have?
Andy W
All SACD players have built-in decoding for 5.1. There are a very small number of processors that can handle SACD (I only know of 1). SACD decoding requires complex hardware verification and detection of couterfiet devices. And no the DD-5.1 doesn't handle it. -Andy W
007
what would be sick is if someone wrote a software program to emulate SACD thu dts or prologic, in other words, a translator.
FritsF
Thanks. I suspected as much. It is the Pioneer 667 and it is connnected to the DD5.1 by a coax RCA digital cable.
RavenX
If you find any DVD audio or SACD decoder then let us know because I know of none presently.
