3dzapper
I sent the guy with the linn an email about it. I've been prepping the wife about a new TT. Rick
artto
Yeah, that's great. Except for one thing. Seller say's the unit has been in storage since 1982, but powers up & all the tubes light up. Unfortunately the Seller didn't mention that the amp was properly 'powered up', slowly with a variac or other method to 're-form' the power supply caps (THAT HAVEN'T BEEN USED IN 20+YEARS!). The power tubes are now basically worthless. Maybe the driver tubes too (both unique for this specific amp). Probably won't last more than a few hours or startups. 3dzapper
Guy, If this doesn't go through I'm still going to aim for this: "Package Deal with a FREE Phono stage and Freight: Buy a Music Hall MMF-9 turntable with phono cartridge and receive a FREE, $300.00, Channel Islands VPP-1 phono section and FREE freight in the lower 48. The Music Hall MMF-9 is an exceptional table/arm/cartridge combination. This turntable is a wonderful value at its $1499.00 selling price and an even better deal with the new $550.00 Music Hall Maestro phono cartridge installed for only $1699.00. It is an entirely new design for Music Hall. It features a three-base design using four Sorbothane isolations springs between each base. The motor is external, at the front left corner of the table and has an electronic speed control. It runs at 50Hz instead of 60Hz because slower motors run quieter. The upgraded new acrylic platter is 1" thick and a $90.00 Ringmat XLR turntable mat is supplied as standard with the table. The tone arm is the 'Project Carbon'. This is a carbon fiber version of the acclaimed Project 9.1 arm and has better bass and dynamics than the standard arm that comes with the MMF-7. The MMF-9 also has a new cartridge. The Music Hall Maestro is a $550 high-output moving coil and sports a VITAL stylus. It is a nice step up over the Eroica model that comes with the MMF-7. The table sells for $1499.00 without the cartridge and only $1699.00 with the $550.00 cartridge and $90.00 Ringmat when purchased as a complete package. The table also comes with a dust cover. For a limited time we are offering a FREE Channel Islands VPP-1 phono section with purchase of the table. The VPP-1 is a wonderful phono preamp that is perfectly matched to the MMF-9. It's design utilizes a passive RIAA filter between two Class A active stages. Rear panel DIP switches allow easy selection of gain, resistive load, capacitance and a subsonic filter. This is a great sounding package at a great deal. FREE Freight is included with this deal in the lower 48 states. Read my perfect 3000 point AudiogoN feedback and then call 770-667-5633 to discuss this table as well as the other quality tables from Music Hall. GA residents add 7% sales tax." Guy Landau
Rick, I think that you can do better than that for $1700. Especially, if you still intend to use the phono section of your Scott amp.
