I agree the 70's and early 80's the Nakamichi we knew, does not exist today as the same very high quality stereo equipment manufactuer. Mighty Favog Posted February 18, 2004 Share Posted February 18, 2004 It makes me pretty sad too. I have a Yamaha K-1020 cassette deck that has a lot of Nak inereds. It worked great for a lot of years but then I didn't use it for about 3 years. Once I fired it back up it never worked the same. It was as if all the belts were worn out and slipping badly. I took it to be repaired by a good shop near my house and they replaced the idler wheels. Once I got it back it worked better but not nearly the same as when I used it a lot.
