robertl
Hello, What would a good speaker match for a restored Fisher 500C tube receiver be. I would like to get a pair of Klipsch speakers for under $800 and they will be used in a small 10x10 room as main speakers. Either vintage Klipsch or new. Thanks, Robert
eq_shadimar
I have a Fisher 500B that I use with Cornwalls. Sounds awesome! I have also used it with Heresy's (awesome as well). You should be able to find a pair of Cornwalls for about $800 and Heresy's for $500 on eBay. For that small of a room I would recommend that you look at getting some Heresy's. Of course if floor space does not matter then get the Cornwalls Laters, Jeff
ZAKO
Although Avrey Fisher liked Altec 604,s The Klipsch Cornwalls would be perfect.
Frzninvt
Forte's would be a great choice! The mids & highs of the Heresy, with the bass response of a Cornwall in a much narrower package. Efficiency is about equal.
TBrennan
I'm very pleased with my 500B and Heresys (see picture), very pleased indeed. And as the other fellas said Cornwalls would be very nice.
ZAKO
T......I believe the Fisher Docter has a brass cap for your volume knob.
TBrennan
Thanks Maron. I had to get some knob caps, I bought them at Bizzy Bee, he's in my neighborhood. In the photo all the knobs have caps, some are new, it's just that cap on the volume knob is kinda tarnished and dark but I decided to leave it alone. dougdrake
I have used a pair of Forte's in a 10x11 room with good results - floor space is at a premium and you'll be able to hit nice bass, mids, and highs with just one pair of speakers, moreso than you could with Heresy's, and with less floor space than Cornwalls.
