Hard 21
I have my rig in a fairly small (not tiny) bedroom. Is there a recommended phase and frequency setting? I have almost no experience with subs. I have this one inbetween the right front and the TV about 7 inches from the wall. P.S. I'm about to watch Master & Commander. Hope it's good. aaabbas
Hard 21, I'm in a similar situation and as new if not newer than you. I have the followin: RF35 - front RC35 - Center RS25 - Surround RW12 - SUB Yamaha XV-R2400 All monster M2s cables except surround, Monster flat cable I've noticed the RW12 has an awsome kick but it's quite finiky on where it's placed. I've been hearing that is common with all subs. I hadn't noticed it with a Def Tech 200TL sub, which was rear ported. The Def Tech was not as clean though. I have my phase set at 0. I've been told this is totally dependent on the room. I have my cross over set at 80 on the sub as well as the receiver. I'm sure I havent' helped much. Hopefully others...way more informed than I, will help wih this question. Haven't seen M&C yet....Hope you enjoy it. -Andy
gcoker
If you connect your receivers subout to the LFE input on the sub the crossover on the sub is disabled. Your receiver's cross-over will handle this. I typically set the recievers cross over to 60hz if you are using floorstanding speaker. Higher if you are using small bookshelf or sat speakers. In terms of phase you can play around with the setting but more than likely you will not hear a difference no matter hwo it's set.
ygmn
read the sub manual...it will help explain how to set the phase which is based on room and speaker placement and mains...etc etc Also get the AVIA home theatrer essentials DVD it will explain it even further and give you some tests to make it easier
