thebes
Clicked on my email and up pops a message from Klipsch about a sale. Yea I say! Visions of $25 Lascala's $75 RF 7's quickly dance through my head. Open up the message and, oh nooooooo, it for Promedia!. Already got Promedia. BUMMER. jt1stcav
Received my Klipsch e-mail as well...definately no $299 Klipschorns, but you can't beat those ProMedia 2.1s for only $99. I'm kinda hoping my brother snags 'em for his PC.
thebes
Sorta can't argue. I paid $160 for my 2.1's.
Dflip
Make sure you read the fine print. They only ship to U.S. destinations! I emailed Klipsch and was told sorry, you live on the wrong side of Lake Ontario and are out of luck, so to speak. They only accept US based credit cards and when I tried to sign up on the weekend they asked what state I lived in (usually a good clue there is a problem). The refurbished ProMedia 2.1's looked nice for $99 US ($134-8 Cdn, depending on the fluctuating US dollar). Considering I saw a pair at Best Buy up here for $219 Cdn. Even with the exchange rates and duties, this is a deal. Maybe Klipsch should just address such emails to it's U.S. customers because they are the only ones who can take advantage of the offers. m00n
What the hey, I didn't get any email. Guess I better go sign up for email notifications.
Dflip
Okay, I made a mistake. I was in Best Buy today and the ProMedia 2.1's are $299 Cdn. Man, does $99 U.S. sure sound good right now. Unfortunately they don't ship them north of the border.
Champagne taste beer budget
Dflip, if you're in Toronto, do you know anyone in the Buffalo area? Looks to me like that's an hours drive from you, give or take, have em shipped there and go pick em up? Just a thought.
ben.
There's actually a BB store just north of Buffalo, off I-290. Too bad they suck. EDIT: Oh, are these direct sale only? If so, have them shipped to a UPS store in Lewiston or Niagara Falls. Spend some loonies in our casino while you're here. I suppose if you wanted to, you could have them shipped to me, as I'm in Niagara county. Bring <>12AX7 and duty free scotch!
Dflip
I wish I had seen the ad before the March break because I was down in Niagara Falls, Ontario for a couple of days. It would have been a short trip across the border. I don't have any plans to head down there at the moment. If memory serves me correct, there is no problem buying the duty free scotch opening it and then returning later to the country of origin, as long as it is for personal use. We did something like this when I went to a Bills game several years ago. Thanks for the offer. It is actually about 1 hour 45 minutes from just east of Toronto. ben.
Yes, but I was thinking of you buying it...
Dflip
Yes, but I was thinking of you buying it... I did get that. If memory serves me right, Scotch was the one thing that doesn't benefit as much from buying at the duty free store. I don't keep track of this as much now since I stopped drinking. Between allergies and knee surgery my brain is working a little slower than normal, so I had to take another look at your comment. If the offer from Klipsch is still available in the summer I may consider it, or I might ship it to a UPS store in Rochester. By then the Breeze (ferry) between Toronto and Rochester should be running and it would make a good two or three day trip and tour around the Finger Lakes area. Right now I am just thinking off the top of my head.
