Okay then, I guess it's resolved. A 40W amp, provided it was designed well and is implemented well, is better than a low-powered SET amp in every way, unless you like to listen to the nuances of Diana Krall at 1/1000 of a watt.

I have nothing against low-powered SET under very limited circumstances. The limitations of a couple watt amp are such that few real-world people would be satisfied with one, however.

This is the section of the forum in which people discuss amps. Somebody needs to warn newbies that SET is not magical and counter all of the over the top claims.
