Deang
I think we are all seeing the same thing. Outside of the grill damage, the first pair just seem to be in better shape overall. Nice veneer, with the nice alnico Atlas midrange drivers. With those drivers, it doesn't matter what the crossovers are, because you have a wide open field for modding. You could run the Type A, AA, or ALKs. Considering their vintage, I'm sure they're loaded up with Type As. Age dictates that you are going to want to replace them anyways. Replacing the stock autotransformers with the UT 3619 and better caps will take the HF response out further too. Screw the other set and go for the oldies but goodies. Piranha
Why not go all out and get 2005 vintage as soon as they become available.

Otherwise you'll be spending more cash to get them veneered at some point. Grills are easy. Veneer isn't. Also, the "B" style is definitely preferable. The bottom molding is nice too. I may add it to mine at some point. ---------------- Good point, thanks, what if I really do not have 2 equadistant corners?

Deang
I think you might be right. Definitely looks like K-55-Vs in the picture. It doesn't look like the leads are soldered on though -- looks like those push thingies.
Piranha
The vintage 66 walnut oiled "B's" are sure a lot nicer than the birch raw. And he's delivering these 167lb beasts too? It's a no brainer I say!

colterphoto1
I echo the thoughts of most. Go for the vintage pair, that beautiful bookmatched hardwood is hard to find and harder to recreate. Grilles and electronic mods are easy. Then, when you get ready to let a pair of your CORNWALLS go to a good home, email me! (sadly my new home hasn't room for khorns, but I'd dearly love to get a 2nd pair of Corns) ROCK ON!!!! colterphoto1@aol.com Michael
