Why hook up video to receiver???

Convienience. If you have a large room and multiple video sources you can probably save some $$ on cable costs two: ie many short runs and one long run. Some will claim that this model pollutes audio signals by having video switching so close to audio circuitry....

... but I doubt I could tell the difference.

I used to do it with all my cables before I ran out of components on my Reciever.

Why? Well because all I had to do was switch my reciever to DVD, and the audio and video were switched. Now, I have to put my controller on reciever, switch to DVD, put the controller on TV, switch to DVD..... Oh well.. I liked it the other way much better I will tell you that much.
