Hayjor
I am getting ready to hook up my home theater system. Why would i hook up my DVD video to the receiver? Why not run the video connection directly to the tv, and run the audio to the receiver?
gcoker
The only reason would be if you have more equipment to connect then your TV has connections. I run all my video to my TV.
Olorin
Convenience is the only reason that comes to mind.
damonrpayne
Convienience. If you have a large room and multiple video sources you can probably save some $$ on cable costs two: ie many short runs and one long run. Some will claim that this model pollutes audio signals by having video switching so close to audio circuitry.... ... but I doubt I could tell the difference. Thors1982
I used to do it with all my cables before I ran out of components on my Reciever. Why? Well because all I had to do was switch my reciever to DVD, and the audio and video were switched. Now, I have to put my controller on reciever, switch to DVD, put the controller on TV, switch to DVD..... Oh well.. I liked it the other way much better I will tell you that much. dantfmly
I am still one of those dinosaurs that still record vcr to vcr. hooking video through my Tv would not alow that. plus i do not have enough inputs on the tv to begin with for 2 vcrs and a dvd player.
