thebes
Although the month isn't technically over I decided to hold the drawing for the t-shirt in hopes I can get it in the mail for X-mas holiday and SynthFreek's the winner! Congrats and PM me with your mailing address. So what do you have to share this week? Format is simple. Name of artists/group, style of music as best you can (jazz, blues etc.), whether its's a cd or lp and any comments you wish to share. As usual I'll start it off with: Simon and Garfunkel, "Wednesday Morning, 3 AM" folk, lp by columbia Records I've waxed in an out over the years with their music, sometimes it's a little folky, dated and calm for me but I'm very impressed with this lp which has on it The Sounds of Silence, Bleeker Street, the title song and lots of other S&G greats. What particularly impressed is the wonderful recording values and lush musicality that the cd versions of the early work do not convey. I actually saw them in concert when I was in high school back in the mid 60's ad the height of their popularity.
dodger
Another John Fogerty. a CD entitled "John Fogerty" - an import. Rock. The guitar is so loud it drowns most everything else out. I have heard better bootlegs. This is so bad, this is all I will say about it. dodger
BobbyT
Trans Siberian Orchestra The Lost Christmass Eve CD This is the latest release by the Orchestra and the third in TSO's Christmass trilogy. Another masterpiece of incredible musicianship and angelic vocals. This is the way holiday music was meant to be played.
colterphoto1
Ok, I stole this from my post on another thread, but I just have to participate in Mr. Thebes contest each and every week. Getting the holiday stuff out this week so... I'm partial to Vince Gualardi (sp) Charlie Brown soundtrack, great Trio. Chicago's is pretty punchy, ignore the track with kids chorus. Playboy Jazz Christmas with Arturo Sandoval is smokin! Herb Alpert and Tiajuana Brass- good mellow- south of border instrumentals didiwindidiwindidiwindidiwindidiwindidiwin??
