kegman
Know of any good tube preamps with remote for $1000 or less! could be new or used. (preferably used for $600 or less) Can't live without remote (even if it's just volume) Doesn't have to have phono! Pasthrough would be nice for suround prepro. "but not a must" I've seen a couple anthem Pre2L's for around $600 used! Any good? I like my preamp to have a nice warmth to it, not to bright, but not rolled off on the highend either! Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks ahead of time for any info.
Deang
I like the Pre2L. I've owned the Pre1L twice. I don't think you can do better for $600. Replace the two front 6922's with some NOS Amperex and you'll be Rock'in pretty good. You were willing to do $1000. Go to $1200 and a few other interesting options are available. Piranha
I have heard good things about the Dared SL-2000. smilin and a few others have owned them in the past and like them in the bang for buck category. I have never heard one personally.
Daddy Dee
I've got a Sunfire Classic Tube Preamp Control Center with remote. It's the linestage (no phono) version. It came with stock Sovtek 6922's and I've upgraded to Mullards. Sweet and musical sound. Anyway, some folks have got these listed for $1200 and $1400 on Audiogon. I'd deliver it for 1K. Just send me a pm if you'd be interested. The amp would be considered near mint and is available only because I have acquired a Juicy Music Peach to use in my system. kegman
Thanks guy's for all the info! Good to know the anthem is a nice unit. Also a good choice but I have a dared (not a bad little guy, bright though) Pretty dam good for the price. I do like the sunfire and find the audio research sp16 intriuging. Daddy Dee thanks for the offer and will give it some thought. (really like the price of the anthem) (but I do like the sunfire) Anyone have any thoughts on these 2? Anymore are welcome also! This may be a good thread for others as well, any and all info is welcome! Thanks all.
Colin
what does ASL or Jolida have to offer?
scott0527
A used Rogue 66 with line and remote is close to your range. I personally was not a huge fan of mine but then again, I bought it new and paid more than twice that. Here's one on A-gon. For 600 or 700, I would have like it a lot better! http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?preatube&1105953759
kegman
"what does ASL or Jolida have to offer?" I did find some there but don't know much about them or what models are any good. "A used Rogue 66 with line and remote is close to your range" I have thought about the rogue!
