mike52
I have 2 questions. 1. I have 16 month old twins so I need to replace my RB 5II fronts with a front firing speaker, so they can be wall mounted. Would that be the RB 35? If I do wall mount them can they behind the Center channel or do they have to be at the same depth as the center? 2. The RB5's are VERY VERY bright, especially when listening in 2 channel. It is ok for HT but 2 channel is tough to listen to. I have Reference all around with a KSW 12 sub. However I am powering them with a low end Pioneer 5.1 receiver. Could the receiver be producing the Brightness? Any guidance appreciated
meuge
1. Any RB-_5 speaker has front-firing ports. While having the mains at the same depth as the center is desirable, it's not essential to a certain extent. I am sure that a few inches will not make a huge difference. 2. The brightness is likely the result of the amplification/pre-amplification. A warmer amplifier, such as a B&K will make a very noticeable difference. kevinlwilliams67
My RB 5's have a rear port, have you looked into a shelf or speaker mount?
IAmtnbikr
"1. Any RB-_5 speaker has front-firing ports." I do not think this is correct, but will know maybe as soon as tomorrow. I have upgraded my Synergy stuff to Reference, and have already received the RC-25 but am waiting on a pair of RF-25's and RB-15's. Per the photos and specs, the RB-15's have rear ports. gcoker
The RB-25,35 are FRONT ported. The 15 and 10's are rear firing. So to answer the question 1. Yes they can be mounted on the wall. They we designed to allow for this. 2. Ideally they should be at the same distance from the listening position but give or take a couple of feet will be ok. Just adjust the distance on your reciever. In terms of "brightness" it is your receiver. Can you adjust the bass responce on your receiver?
mike52
RB 35's are front ported, so mounting them should not be an issue. I want to keep the speakers matched so I am guessing the RB35 will match up well with the rest of my reference. Reccomendations on receivers in the $500 range? kevinlwilliams67
What are you planning to do with your RB 5's?

But I would go to a audio store and try differnet receivers with your type speakers and see what sounds the best to you. Then make sure they have a good return policy and try it at home and see if it is what your looking for.
tmilam
The RB 5II's are rear-ported as I have a pair. They are wall-mounted as my rear surrounds in a RF 7 setup. Your newer Klipsch Reference bookshelf speakers are all front-ported, I believe. As for wall mounting them, I used Omnimounts. Try doing a google search for these mounts, and maybe that will give you some options to consider.
IAmtnbikr
See gcoker's post above...not all the Reference bookshelf speakers are front-ported. The RB-10 and RB-15 speakers are rear-ported. The larger ones are front-ported as he said...
