Difference in coax and optical

well there could be a difference in sound, but that will only be due to the DAC's in your reciever and those on your DVD player, since there is only digital co-ax the DAC in that one will be unvariable, but your reciever that should accept both may process one better than the other, in my expierence hk does a better job processing opitcal than digital co ax and therefore sounds better. Anyways the other thing like said before is that optical cable will not be affected by rf and emi like didgital co-ax will. Lastly remember to use a decent digital co-ax because although it is a composite cable on both ends it was made to handle a higher bandwith than a standard stereo composite cable. Anyways if you do not have one i reccomend vampire, straight, audioquest, bluejeans, and so on

I did a back to back test with mine, and heard no noticable difference. So, I stayed with optical. As for the component cables, I had them made from RG6 for under $30 total for a 6-ft run of three cables. Back to backed them with some high buck component cables a friend had....no difference in pq. Nice...especially since he spent over $150 for them.

i think its better to see what your reciever's DACS can process better and then make your decision best on that, because yes in theory co-ax is better as a cable by itself (well some would agree) you must make sure that within the system it works well and sounds the best

you are right digital is digital, but optical cable requires more processing than digital co-ax and therefore in theory may will sound different than digital co-ax, but i don't think that extra processing is audible, anyways
