tommyboy
I noticed that my RW10 has a BASH amp. What is the difference in this and other sub amps, and what does it stand for??
Moderators Amy Posted February 25, 2005 Moderators Share Posted February 25, 2005 http://www.bashaudio.com/ I believe it's bridged amplifier switching hybrid.
Colin
thanks amy, I thought BASH amps were high power, high THD and low cost Class D amps made by Pioneer...
kenratboy
The entire line of SVS subs use BASH amps, so you know it can't be a BAD thing. I believe BASH amps are just very efficent and reliable, a 'good thing' overall. This sums it up pretty well: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1558,1157272,00.asp
SilverSport
I believe HSU and Outlaw Audio also use BASH amps... Bill
IAmtnbikr
As does the BIC H-100 sub, which is similar to the STF-1, and was designed for BIC by Hsu himself. Much cleaner sound than my old KSW-12.....at half the cost.
white_shadow
Class D sounds about right, and I forget what D signifies. It's not A, B, C, D, F-fail. Its more about how the amp works. Whether or not two amplifying circuit are used for the signal, whether or not it switches between circuits, and if one circuit is off an the other one is one. <-- These are also some reasons why some amps get really hot and some don't. The other reasons are thermodynamically related. They are basically cheap, powerful amps. I believe they are a hybrid, like the AB class amps. They are used extensively in sub amps. I wish I knew more about amps, I was enrolled in an amp design class and was kicked out because I didn't have the prereq.
