Clipped and Shorn
Pretty hard to beat the price and quality of the Blueberry since it is a great unit for Phono and Line. For not too awfully much more than the price of a used Cary SLP-308 you can get a new Blueberry and have Phono covered. I speak from experience, it is what I use and I have had Pas3, Audio Research, and Paragon all of which have their followers, but the Blueberry is in a whole other class. This is why so many here have them, or the Peach. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?preatube&1123106675 C&S

But if it was me, I'd be looking at the designer/manufacturer of these products. In the past, I would usually go for the 'name' product. I had little choice anyway. In Australia it's rare that I could audition this stuff prior to purchase. These days, and with access to Forum members who have actually bought a Juicy Music product and used it with the same loudspeakers we own, you'd have to go with what works for most people. Just look at the posts relating to the Peach and Blueberry preamps. Also the comments by the designer. I have formed the opinion that this guy knows what he's talking about. I'm not denigrating Cary, but I reckon for the Klipsch tube lover, go fruit...
Daddy Dee
Crazy, You might want to check on the JM website. Sometimes Mark has got demo's that he sells at a considerable discount. He is also working on a stand alone phono stage which will go into the same case as the Merlin preamp.
TheEvan
The phono section on the Blueberry is a freak of nature,er freak of technology. Whatever. It sounds unbelievable. I OD'd on old CTI records tonight. Unbelievable. Now I need a decent CD player...
