wdsnls
I've read many posts where suggestions were made for a center speaker to match a pair of KG3's (15 years old today!), but they usually mention discontinued or used speakers. Can anyone suggest a Klipsch model that will match, that is still available new?
Frzninvt
There are none that would match in the current line up's. Your best bet is to get a KG 2.2V or KG 2.5V or even better another KG3! Timbre matching the center is VERY important and a matching center will make a world of difference in across the screen pans.
wdsnls
Thank you for your advice. I understand the importance of matching the center speaker with the fronts, but it appears if these discontinued items can't be found, the only alternative is to buy three new speakers. If I had to use some degree of acceptability with a mismatched center, which current Klipsch product would you consider closest?
Frzninvt
Can't be found??? They come up regularly on AudioGon and eBay and the 2.2V or 2.5V can be had for around $100-$150. It would cost a hell of alot more for three new speakers and they probably won't match the performance of the ones that you have unless you are planning to outlay some decent bucks. wdsnls
I guess I'll just be patient and keep my eye out for them!
Frzninvt
Here is one, it is already on the high side. What finish were you looking for? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14992&item=5785723561&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Here is a pair of KG3's http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=61378&item=5786256019&rd=1 Here is a pair of KG 2.2's http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=61378&item=5787407445&rd=1 Or you could buy these KG4's since they are in your neck of the woods and relegate one of your KG3's to center duty. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=61378&item=5787413399&rd=1 Lots of options available. wdsnls
The KG3's are out (size-wise). I've been watching the KG2.2V on Ebay. It is kind of high. I'd be interested in oak or black.

I have all the original boxes for the speakers, plus the wall brackets for the KG.5s. make an offer, I'll be happy to ship them out... Frzninvt
How much are you looking to get for the .5's I have been looking for a reasonably priced pair for my little girl's room. The KV-2 will work well in his application if finding a decent KG 2.2V or 2.5V becomes a drawn out process.

jhawk92
Another option is the KV-2 or KV-3 series, which were also made for the KG series of speakers. All the KV-x line are shielded so they can sit directly on your TV and not affect the picture. I had a KV-3 with my Forte IIs and it did an admirable job with those speakers. You have lots of options with the KG series. That KG 2.2V isn't too bad a price yet. Best of luck.
Cleve
Make sure you get a KG speaker, preferably a KG-3. Don't settle for a speaker that doesn't match. Been there, done that.
