HT-PC info

Yes this is an audio board but in HT, audio is only 1/2 of the story. Picture is the other half and many people have gone the HTPC route. I have chosen this way myself and I find it to be much better than the stand alone DVD player we have. Granted the player is a lower cost Pioneer.

I use the PC as a transport and source for video to send to my PJ. This has the advantage of being able to easily scale to the native resoultion of the PJ for maximum picture quality.

I have found the following site a great help with information on parts, setup and software. I will answer all I can if you ask but I am a nube to this myself. I think this is a great way to go.

I have been frequenting that website also. I've learned alot about HTPC. It looks like a great option, especially for DVR capabilites. Although to my dissapointment, it doesn't look like it's yet possible to record Dish Network. Maybe by the time I start buying components, it will be available. Looks like a great way to store and playback music and movies, and "back-up" the DVD's I like when Netflix sends them.
