crazytubepower
Well, my hk 430 has a phono stage put I will be using a merlin/ teac combo for awhile. I really have no budget to speak of, so the lower the better. But i want quility mc/mm so if i have to pay alittle to get some i will. Does anyone have one they need to get rid of and will give me a good deal? if so either email me a audiophilefreak@gmail.com or just post it. THANKS! Guy Landau
use the one on the H/K. Take the signal from the tape output and feed it to one of the Merlin's inputs.

Mark Hardy
The hk430's preamp is probably decent to very good and of course can be used from the 'tape out' (or pre-outs, if you want level/tone adjustment!) to your preamp's line-level inputs. 'course, you already knew that. But I did want to mention that there's a nice, inexpensive preamp 'kit' (well, board and parts list) available from Jim Hagerman called the "Bugle" that's been quite widely praised: http://www.hagtech.com/bugle.html#bugle You can read a review of the Bugle and other budget phono preamps at: http://www.audioxpress.com/reviews/media/403hansen2090.pdf BTW, Hagerman has some other nice phono preamps, too, but the prices (while reasonable) aren't quite so modest!
