BobbyT
Skonopa I was beginning to think I was the only one here that listens to Lacuna Coil. If you don't already have it Unleashed Memories is also excellent.
Rsoxfan
I know it has an x-mas theme but TSO sounds great year round on my system..
skonopa
Do you have any specific media-type or format for me to make it into(SIZE matters)? I do it as a hobby so it doesn't bother me to alter it into a format to suit you, I know what it sounds like, just remember the limits/compression of any format. I'm not too sure if I want to let perfect originals go, not that I plan on geting paid for them, I just don't want issues over anyone elses copyrighted bits/samples that have been manipulated by me. 320Kbps MP3 will work for me (although a loss-less format, such as FLAC would be even better, but definitly understand the size issues). Size is not an issue with me as I do have a good 1/2 terabyte of space on my server. I also have pretty-good high-speed access to the internet as well. I can fully understand your concerns with wanting to release something with potential copywrite issues. I don't know how much "fair-use" comes into play with regards to using digital samples in composing or "DJ'ing" mixes, which is what sounds like you are doing. I cannot imagine it would be an issue in personal/non-commercial/hobbyiest type uses, but as soon as you try to cut an album and sell it, I can see how that may become a problem. If you are not willing to let anything go, I can fully understand. Still, would be interesting to try your stuff on my system, especially if it is truly is as good as you seem to indicate (with the reaction you got at a "rave"/dance club). In addition to the aforementioned Comalies, I do indeed have that Unleashed Memories, as well as In a Reverie, and thier self-titled album Lacuna Coil (that is going back to some of thier early stuff!). skonopa
I know it has an x-mas theme but TSO sounds great year round on my system.. Not all TSO is Christmas themed. Have you listened to thier Beethoven's Last Night album? It is also quite good! Also, I think thier next album, which I think is going to be titled Night Castle, is not going to be Christmas themed either. Unfortunatly, there is absolutly nothing on thier website about the new album, other than the fact that they are working on one, however I did see merchandise in thier store for the "Night Castle" theme. Also, I only found out what the name was when they mentioned it at thier concert last fall. They also played a piece that is supposed to go on thier new album, the "O Fortuna" part of Orff's Carmina Burana. Needless to say, I was friggan completely blown out of my seat when I heard that! Un-friggan-believable! I cannot friggan wait to get this album when it comes out (my guess, sometime around October/November)!

rockbobmel
I don't know if this is cheatin, but Steeely Dan's "Goucho in DTS" the first cut "Babylon Sisters" I think this exceeds all so far. I also like to play Bela Fleck's "Coo coo's Nest" on reg. CD. Yes "Keys #2, Foot Prints" or "Open Your Eyes" Extreme dynamis here!!
JeffDurbin
'Sessions for Robert J' - Clapton 'In Session' - Albert King / Stevie Ray Vaughan (sacd) 'The Door' - Keb Mo (sacd) You've got some great selections there! I am just finishing up my term as the entertainment chairman for a blues society and when Clapton came out with "Me and Mr. Johnson", his publicity guy sent me a customized copy of Peter Guralnick's "Searching For Robert Johnson" paperback with a fake library pocket in the inside front cover with a library card with signatures of Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, etc. The pocket also held a copy of Clapton's "Me and Mr. Johnson". It is quite the little collector's item.Last year, they sent me a copy of the DVD/CD "Sessions for Robert J" and I fell in love with it! Awesome, awesome DVD! What do you think of the "Crossroads Guitar Festival" DVD? That's on my Christmas list.
JeffDurbin
Anakin26 I'm just going to write what 90% of everyone else is thinking but too polite to say. We here in the USA see ol MJ as a pedifile. Most of us are not willing to go out and purchase his music and support him. [] dead on....... ditto

I don't agree-- Maybe its my skeptical view of the press, but i think they wrapped a pedophile tag on him to sell time and rode that story til we were all sick of it. Don't get me wrong, MJ is a twisted dude, Never had a childhhood, and he's got a screwed up perception of what his face should look like. I think he's so naive and has no street-sense. Those people who accused him had tried the "help us, my baby has cancer" schtick on Jay Leno and George Lopez before they found a sucker in MJ. I haven't liked his music since "Better Be Starting Something", but I don't think we know enough to say he's a whatever. And the press lie like a rug--worse than politicians. Crossroads Guitar festival is great-- He plays loose and fast with half of the other artists in duets on the DVD, and the variety of styles of all the artists is great. Larry Carlton is a snore, but the rest is all good. Steve Vai, Johnny Lang, Robert Randolph, Buddy Guy and many others are stellar-- I would recommend it highly
skonopa
To add to my list: Vox Tempus - In the Eye of Time. This CD is very, very well done in terms of recording quality. Probably one of the best ones I've heard in a long time. The music itself is very dynamic with a nice strong bass line and some incredible vocals. Definitly one that I'll be using to show off my system in the future (and a disk to take to try on other people's systems)
DrWho
Since lacuna coil was mentioned (some great music there), I figured I'd throw "Massive Attack" into the mix as well. Most of their stuff is wierd in that it's super complex yet sounds so minimalist - a crappy setup just ruins the effect instantly.
