chops
Wouldn't a much simpler and free mod to reverse the polarity of the tweeter be just as effective of taming that 9KHz peak as if you were to mod the network? Just a thought.
3dzapper
I don't think it's behavior is isolated to the small throat horns -- look at the plot on Al's site of the Trachorn response compared to the 511B and K-401. Dean, What I am refering to is the charicteristic roll-off above 4500Hz in the K-55/P5D that you have talked about in the past. I read somewhere, might even have been here, that restricting the horn opening improves HF response. The 9K thing is another idiosyncrony of the K-55. That it sounds so good even against the more expensive, bland Altecs, is a testimony to Atlas IMO. I've never heard the EV that you are using, maybe someday a pair will fall into my lap. Corvette6769
This DfH was not in the regular collection and I'd love to see a scan with better resolution, if anyone has one. colterphoto1
If Bob Crites is reading this thread, Bob do you have a kit or price to add the filter to your AA/A convertible network? Do you consider this a worthwhile modification? M

3dzapper
Chops, I think the tweeter polarization is taken into account in the networks design. What is necessary is a slight addition in the 4500-6k crossover range. Reversing the tweeter will cause the opposite, a drop-off. The return, if present, is another issue.
