Seismic_Pulse
Could someone explain to me why the Plus has more output? Would you say the Ultra/2 would be a much better sub than the RSW-15?
formica
Could someone explain to me why the Plus has more output? That's because those are Frequency Response curves, and weren't measured at maximum output. The Ultra/2 has more output. The level used is arbitrary... dragonfyr
Could someone explain to me why the Plus has more output (than the Ultra)? It's nice that some can answer that here, but wouldn't come dangerously close to making sense to contact SVS for an explanation of their products' performance?[] Or are you referring to a comparison of the 'Klipsch PB12-Ultra/2 versus the Klipsch PB12-Plus/2' on the Klipsch Forum!????[]
Seismic_Pulse
dragonfyrThanks for pointing out the obvious...I own and love Klipsch speakers.Thank you for enlightening me. I had absolutely no idea that Klipsch manufactured all of the following brands which have all been discussed right here in this category... Velodyne Dayton Paradigm Sunfire M&K Infinity JBL Polk B&W Kenwood Axiom ADS HSU

CAS
It's odd how often that question is raised when response curves such as these are displayed. I'd be pretty ticked off if my sub could max out at only 90 to 95 dB. And yes, the Ultra 2 would eat the RSW-15 for breakfast. More cone area (monster woofers they are), larger amp, larger enclosure, more tuning flexibility, etc. Just physics.
TheEAR
Why does the Ultra(TV12 VS dB12)have more output? What a strange question answered more time anyone here cares to even count! []The "secret" lies in the TV12 max linear travel over the dB12's linear travel.Plus to take advantage of this travel and exploit the TV12 woofers a more potent amp. Shhhh its a secret for newbs SHHHHHHHH [:$]CAS...No seriously a SVS sub eats a Klipsch sub for lunch! It has to have big teeth and a large mouth.By your description I can say my Krell FPB amp eats all your teeny weenie amps for lunch(unless you have a mighty FPB too). Kriton
Wait a sec, I don't get this. This is a legitimate question, by a person who owns and loves, by his own account, Klipsch speakers. He is asking a simple question about a brand of sub-woofers which I have discussed here, as have many others, in comparison to other products in the SVS line, as well as how it will stack up to the Klipsch 15 sub, which is useful information for all of us. Why are you giving him a hard time, and since when have any of you become moderators of this forum? I appreciate the question, have appreciated the helpful answers, and would tell the rest of you to get bent. K
TheEAR
To answer the ORIGINAL question. Both subs in the graphs you see were measured at the same SPL and a lowSPL too boot.Since both are tuned to what looks as the same frequency they exibit an almost identical FREQUENCY response curve. The Ultra(TV12) will have an output advantage and less distortion as soon as SPL(SOUND PRESSURE LEVEL)reaches the limits of the dB12(Plus)woofer excursion and/or power handling levels. [] Your question has been finally answered
DillonW
Seismic Pulse, While comparing these two sub's, stats can be useful. But, you really need to hear them side-by-side. Listening to both of them, these were my observations. The Ultra has only slightly more output, and is a little quicker. The Ultra's crisp sound is better suited to music than the plus. Depending on the application, the extra $$$ for the Ultra may not be worth it. The Plus/2 is very impressive! If your primary interest is movies, the Plus/2 remains the best bargain out there. If your looking for a do-it-all sub with serious output, the Ultra/2 is my choice. The RSW-15 is not in the same class as the Ultra/2 when it comes to output down low. It will hold its own in the music department, but if you like all the LFE in the LOTR series....
