That is it I'm going to start building Scott cases you traitor[;)] The best type is application dependant so it isn't that cut and dry. I like carbon or carbon film in the signal path. Metal Oxide for plate resistors, Metal film for cathode resistors.

My older(mid 60s) Fischer has carbon resitors.

Metal are newer and generally more precise.

If precision is required, metal film will have an advantage.

I would think that the intended roll in any application would play a part here, up to and including whether they needed to be non-inductive...

Thanks guys, looks like carbon film or any kind will work.

Craig with my electrical skills your job rebulding tube amps is 100% safe, LOL. I have about a million more questions about trying to rebuild this poor fisher X-100 of mine this winter, just cant stand too let it set there and go too waste.

Anybody ever order anything from this electronic parts supplier this is were I might get some carbon film resistors seems like the prices on there stuff is cheep. http://www.futurlec.com/
