Jack Keck
I inheirited a pair of Heresies two weeks ago. I think they sound great sitting on the floor, but I know that there were stands available for them. I'm not looking to buy stands, but might try to make some. I need to know the angle that the stands should tilt these speakers at. How did I get a free pair of Heresies? My cousin is trying to get rid of stuff for a possible move to Florida (from Michigan). He decided he preferred his Bose Lifestyle system. Who am I to argue? It will be intereesting to see what he decides to do with his McIntosh tube stuff when he finds it. It is from the early '60s, I think. My late uncle bought it. Would that work with Heresies> I have them hooked up to my Pioneer HT reciever. While I have your attention, If I were to put a Heresy below my TV, like to use for acenter channel, would the woofer be far enough away from the TV to not wreck the picture? I have this wierd idea the three more of these for HT would be great, if not unbeatable. I already have a sub (DIY, 15" driver, 500 watt amp, ported cabinet.) It's all in the basement, so my wife diesn't care. Jack
SilverSport
Jack use the search function and you will learn a lot...Heresys are great speakers (IMHO) and using one as a center a would be the best center match for a HT system (I do not have any interference problems with a CRT Sony TV (36")...Mcintosh and Klipsch LOVE each other ESPECIALLY the tube stuff! Enjoy you lucky dog! Bill
Marvel
Jack, The stands for the Heresys do two things. It tilts them back so that the mid horn and tweeter point toward your ears or at the least a bit closer. Plus it makes it impossible to put plants or drinks on the cabinets, thereby avoiding potential damage from water/alcohol spots. Mine are just raised straight up on some Rubbermaid step stools (approx. 9") and while not super attractive, the tweeters are up around 28" off the floor. It makes a difference. Most would like them a bit higher I think. Bruce
Kriton
Hey, I tried to answer this before, but it didn't work, so I am trying again. First, the dimensions of the risers (the original optional Heresy stand that came from the factory) are here on the forums, you will find them. Second, I need my Heresys up a little higher than the risers, which are really pretty low to the ground, but I wanted an angled stand, and something that was sturdy enough to hold them. Well I found some really cheap little stands that do a great job at Ikea, I couldn't find the link for you, so I took some picts that follow. It was like they were made for my Heresys, and I think they were something like $14.00 bucks per.

Marvel
Kriton, I like 'em. About as attractive as my stepstools, but put the speakers at an angle. Musicians have heavier duty stands like that to put guitar amps on, so they point up at you. They also cost a bit more. If you know someone who does welding, you could have some made pretty cheap as well, using square 1" tubing. Bruce
pauln
Welcome to the forum. I had Heresy for over 25 years and did like them a little up off the floor. I found some wood foot stools at SAM's club for $11 each. The wood matched the Heresys perfectly and got them up about 1 foot from the floor. They had four slightly out-angled legs with horizontal cross braces between them and the top was about a square foot with a rounded rectangular cutout in the center for use as a hand hold. Jack Keck
Thank you for your welcome and for all the replies. I did a search on "risers" and got lots of info. Before posting, I did a search on "stands" which wasn't as successful. There were plans to open an Ikea in SE Michigan. Haven't heard much about it llately.
