Does anyone have a pair of Cornwalls they are willing to part with?

I just have a few requirements after two failed attempts on ebay and my mouth is pretty bitter now.....

I just wanted to thank Garymd though for actually looking at the speakers and willing to hold them for me.

Requirements:

Speakers work without damaged cones (they should sound good!)

I prefer a clean cabinet that is minimal in scratches, dings, dents, corners smashed

Basically that is all

You forgot to add that you want to pay a ridiculously low price for them. [;)] [:)]

Jay - May I ask what happened with the Cornwalls in Silver Spring? I saw them and was very interested, but I wasn't going to jump in and step on your toes on this. Are you not pursuing them any more? Curious what Gary thought of them when he saw them.

I have recently been looking to upgrade my KG2s that I've had since '85, and I am leaning toward Heresy IIIs or older Cornwalls. Those look pretty nice, but the price is already up there.

Thank for not stepping on toes. But I am not persuing them anymore.

They jumped too high at 860 or soo and the person talked to gary and

made a sorta agreement but then kinda went back, its ok nothing was

shaken or so.

Also Gary said the picture wasn't exactly as said as there were some

signs of him patching up the veneer. He sorta made the picture better

than he made them to be. Also on advise of Gary he said they are not

worth over 750.

I have a pair for sale but they are in

California. They are cherry with cane grills and Im asking 900.00. Not

to excited about shipping them but anything is possible.

Josh

Thank you for the offer but California is a bit too far.... I was

hoping to honestly stay under 800 dollars and no shipping. I worked

retail and know all the delivery service and have some interesting

stories on why things get broken and mangled..... Also shipping those

will cost atleast 150 more.

I was waiting for Jay to decide one way or the other before posting about the MD Corns. They're very nice but not mint like was stated. There were 4 or more areas where veneer was missing and filled in before the finish went on. On average, about 1/2" square. Visible from 3 feet away, possibly more. The edges weren't all perfect either. I'd give them an 8.5 out of 10. I only criticize them because they were stated to be about mint in the auction. They're very nice. Extremely nice as a matter of fact and he did a freat job stripping the old finish and applying the poly. I just think CBRs are not worth that kind of money unless they're perfect. Also, they're II's and I'm partial to I's.

If someone REALLY wanted nice CBRs and were willing to pay a premium, these would certainly be a candidate.

Oh yeah, no risers.

FYI: Forward Air is excellent for shipping anything large and/or heavy.

I just had a pair of custom speaker cabinets shipped from California to

Texas on a pallet (425 pounds) for $225. Another option is BAX Global.

I used them when I shipped some vintage JBL's to Korea and they were

less than half of UPS , FedEx and DHL at just over $300.

By the way if I may, looks like I will be driving up to Austin TX to

pick up some Cornwalls in about a week. It would be sooner but I have to schedule time to get up there. banana.gif
