vwittke
Hello, i have 4 K55V drivers with spring terminals. On all of them the red colour marking the positive terminal has faded away. All i can see are markings "1" and "2" on the driver case. Can someone tell me which one is the positive one? Many thanks in advance to everyone, Volker
WMcD
On mine, the number two terminal has red paint. There is also a big dot of red paint on the back chamber (the side without the terminals) corresponding to the number two terminal. I can't say whether or not this was done at the factory. Let's see if anyone else can confirm. Gil
Tom Mobley
Wow, the eagle eye brigade in action. I never even knew those numbers were there. I have a spring terminal K-55-V serial #119650 in my hand. It has the tiny 1 and 2 near the terminals. # 2 is the red one on mine also. I'd say you're good to go on that. I had to get out a magnifying glass to clearly see the numbers. I must be getting old. Guest " "
intresting question. the attached pd5hv document from atlassound does not specify. However, a set that I have with the speakerlab factory label states that T1 is positive in the factory print. Yes I have seen the red dots on either one....but not sure who put them there. Deang
The red dot is the factory mark -- they were put there by Atlas.
pauln
Ahh, but the real question is, are these the ones that are reversed so the crossover phasing is correct, or the other way?
Guest " "
Ahh, but the real question is, are these the ones that are reversed so the crossover phasing is correct, or the other way? Thats what I am thinking. sometimes I see red dots on t-1, sometimes on t-2. My thought was the red dots were placed based on the intended model speaker they are going into. Otherwise, why on earth would they shift from t1 to t2 and vs ?
djk
Positive voltage on L1 causes positive pressure in the throat on this type of driver (WE555 type). Positive voltage on L1 causes negative pressure in the throat on drivers with the phase plug going through the magnet (Altec 802 type).
