Use of 4 center channels for surround?????????

I currently have a KV3 as my center and was wondering if it would sound

OK to use them or KV2's as my surrounds. I have Chorus II's as my

mains and I know they are not the perfect match but they work for me

considering the price. I have a very limited amount of space and

my wife thinks the KG's I have now are too big and bulky so I figured

the KV would be a little more streamlined and fit the space better. Any

thoughts are appreciated.

The academy is out of the question now so don't bother mentioning it. One day hopefully.

Thanks,

Dave C

I won't mention an Academy...but how about 5 to complement the Chorus? Now you are talking. Not too bulky for surrounds and perfect match for the chorus.

I got three in one shot and have seen 2 and 3 offered up more then once. Don't write it off just yet. Keep your eyes open and be patient.

Nice avatar...is that a greyhound? I got a retired racer on my couch...greyt pet!

KG .5's, KG1's or KG 2.2's would be a better choice over the KV-2's. The cabinets are also shaped liked standard speakers. I use a pair of Academy's as my rear effects/centers replacing a pair of Belle Klipsch and I am satisfied with their performance. What are you using as a center between the Chorus? Something substantial I hope.

Yeah, I noticed that after I posted. While a good match it does not have the horsepower to keep up with the Chorus. An Academy with 8" would work better and now is the time to buy since they are going $400-$450 these days instead of the $400 - $900 not to long ago. The cat's meow would be a third Chorus if he could shoehorn it into the center position somehow.

The KG 1.5's should be decent as surrounds, if not go with the KG2's, 2.2's, or 2.5's for more oomph. Forte's would be ideal.

I would love to have an additional 5 academy's but I simply dont have

the mullah at the moment. My yamaha does a pretty good job at beefing

up the center so it does not get drowned out by my chorus II's, so I am

happy for now with that set up. Unfortunatly the rear of the room does

not lend itself to many choices, honestly a satelite would be the best

choice but I dont think that would sound very good so I need something

skinny and not too deep. So I would like to get as many ideas as

possible so I can figure out what works best.

Thanks again,

Yes that is a greyhound and yes they are the best pets I've ever owned.

Thanks,

Dave
