skonopa
I am starting to shop around for a new reciever for my home theater set-up. That Yamaha RV-702 I had for the past few years is really starting to get long in the tooth, especially since it does not even support Dolby Digital or DTS. I am thinking of spending anywhere from $1200 (US) and below. For example, the latest Crutchfield catalog has the Denon AVR-3802 (one of my considerations) for $1199.95 (although I imagine a little shopping around on the net can net it at a cheaper price). Any recommendations for a decent reciever at a decent price? Thanks Steve K. ------------------ Steven Konopa Fredericksburg, VA

dougdrake2
This has been a very popular topic recently. (Sheesh, can't you guys wait for Christmas ?) Anyway, you might spend a few minutes browsing older posts in this Home Theater forum. There are a couple of threads about receivers in this very price range. Feel free, of course, to post further questions. Just thought I'd give you some reading material. Good luck! Doug
skonopa
Duh, didn't think about that - looking through the archives looking for similar threads . Forgive me, this is the first time I visited the HT section of these boards! lovedrummin
skonopa - I just purchased the Denon 3802. I'm still learning how to use this bad boy as I'm relatively new to HT, but having fun doing so. Sure is a different animal than my old stereo receiver. Anyway, if you're going to shop on-line, you may want to check out www.pricegrabber.com - you can plug in the manufacturer & model & it will give you about a half dozen places & their prices. Plug in your zip code and it will also give you the price with shipping & handling. Happy hunting. -- LEW

jhawk92
FWIW, I bought my Denon POA 5200 from Sound Distributors in Las Vegas via the web. They beat retail by quite a bit and service was fine. They have the 3802 for $795! They have great feedback on the Audio Survey website that Belial mentioned. Good luck. Genedaddy
The Denon 3802 is great. You may also want to look at the Onkyo 787/797. I think they retail around $1000. We were fortunate enough to get an Onkyo 787 for our bedroom for $600. I just need to choose some speakers for it. Wonder how Klipsch would sound with this
