Jay481985
I believe the systolic or the first number is when the blood pressure is stopped by the arm thing pressure. The Diastolic or second number is the pressure when the blood flows back. That is why they use a stetescope (sp) and hear your artery blood flow. Malcolm
The first number is the systolic pressure. It is the pressure as your heart contracts and tries to force blood through your arteries. The second number is the pressure as your heart relaxes and fills with blood. You can think of the two numbers as the maximum pressure and the minimum pressure as your heart pumps blood through you arteries. Both of your numbers are in what generally seems to be accepted as the unhealthy range. I'll let your doctor explain any more than that. djk
High blood pressure is never good. Life expectancy is usually not affected in the other types." http://www.ednf.org/abouteds/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=
