Mike Lindsey
My Panasonic RP-91 recently died and I no longer have a DVD player for HT use, nor a CD player for 2-channel use. I have been doing a bit of reading and have found what I believe to be a player that can replace it and then some. I need a player that performs well on movies, dvd concerts and DVD-A formatted discs, and this one seems to fit the bill, plus the ability to play SACD. I'm not looking to spend a fortune and I see most of these are selling used around $350 on eBay. Audiogon looks to be a little higher around $425. For those of you that have this player I have one question. I see it has 8 analog outputs on the back where it appears it has 2 sets of L/R mains. Is this so I can run one set to a dedicated 2-channel preamp (BBX), and the other 6 (5.1) to a HT receiver? This way I could play redbook CD's, and 2 channel SACD and DVD-A thru my tube rig? Any comments good or bad on this player? This player will work for me since I only have Component inputs on my 5 year old TV. Thanks in advance, Mike

I don't have the same DVD player but my h/k DVD-A player has the same 8 RCA outputs.
PhilMays
I love mine. I have been in the market for a 5900, why, I don't know...
Guido Sansui
You might want to check out the 2200, after a lot of reading and initially wanting the 2900 I settled on the 2200. Same DACs, pretty much identical audio/video performance, not as heavy duty and a few less bells. I'm very happy with it. Bill

It held its own with a Cambridge Audio Azur 640C.
Mike Lindsey
Considered it, but have read where the 2900 has better audio DACs, better build quality, better S/N, and power supply isolation. There are also a couple of aftermarket 2-ch upgrades for the 2900 (Underwood and ModWright). I think I've got my mind made up on this one...
