Have your guys been to the poormedia, I mean promedia forums?

Damn if I didn't go over there today because I'm in the hunt for a 5.1 system for my computer. I figured the poormedia, I mean promedia products would be relatively high quality like my vintage klipsch speakers are.

Boy, was I wrong!

Now I see why recent day Klipsch is basically scoffed at and hardly ever considered "worthy" in the high quality speaker world. You wonder why the audiophile magazines don't bother with Klipsch? Go read some of the posts from the poor saps who purchased the poormedia, I mean promedia systems. Klipsch is ducking and weaving instead of facing the issues head on. Heck a couple people got actual burns on their skin from the subs overheating! One almost burned the guys home down!

Man, the days of the Cornwall are over. Paul must be rolling in his grave.

My system thus far:

1990 Heresy II's (rears)

2001 KSW15 (Subwoofer)

SONY STD-D611 (reciever)Kenwood DV402 (DVD)

Sony KV 27V55 (9 year old 27" TV still kickin')

And BigBusa's motto is........ drum roll please... "IGNORANCE IS BLISS"

You are so ignorant to the truth! Klipsch is VERY well regarded in the Home Theater world. There have not been NEARLY as many failures of PM speakers than successes. Like 10:10,000.

I was at the Bryan/College Station General Hospital about a month ago and read from two DIFFERENT magazines RAVING reviews of Klipsch HT equiptment. EVERY review of the PM 5.1, 4.1, 2.1, and v2.400's have too been rave reviews. Find some reviews of PM speakers from a reputable reviewer ( a review of PM, not a comparision to another speaker system eg. the Siccorro X-Fires) and then you can start to degrade the Klipsch PM Line of speakers. I don't know what to say about you. What PM speakers have you owned? I have owned EVERY SINGLE MODEL and have NEVER had a problem. I have ordered TWO sets of 5.1's, own the Synergy 6 system and the Quintets. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ANY KLIPSCH PRODUCT!

If he were dead he'd be rolling in his grave. That better? My post wasn't about whether or not he was alive or dead. I assumed he was dead because of the rapid demise of the company.

That he is alive and condones this ruins the Klipsch experience even more for me. Does he not see what he spent his whole life creating (quality products and great reputation) is being ruined?

I too am shocked at what seems to be a lot of complaints from the promedia section, but since I have no relevant numbers upon which to judge the percentage of failures, amount of product sold, age and experience of posters and their expectations of quality, I have no way of knowing hoe statistically valid the number and severity of their complaints actually are.

I am surprised at the cost of the crap they sell these days. Hard to believe that the junk that was cheap a decade ago is dear and quality today. No wonder some people think hi-fi is losing its market, the kids today don't get to hear musically sounding systems for reasonable cost. For example, the Dynaco ST70s tube amps that I bought for $40 over a decade ago would cost me over $400 for a pair today without any improvement to their caps or tubes ...

You are wrong yet again. Please give PROOF of the

Klipsch? I have not seen any.

YOU ARE SO VERY WRONG

More proof that the company is thriving is the building of a state of the art massive distribution center.Warehouse2_icon.jpg

Wow Boa, your comments mean a lot to me. Thanks.

I can only dream of a job at Klipsch. I have researched the benifits... looking good Smile.gif I even wrote a like 40 page (+-5 pages Smile.gif ) manual concerning all of the ProMedia Speakers, at the end it had an extensive troubleshooting section, it was an adition 10 pages. I put it into a PDF file for easy viewing, only to have my SONY Vaio crap out on me as i was distributing it (well tyring to) on AIM. I just about criedcwm14.gif , seriously! Now all I have is the first 8-12 pages.cwm14.gif

The best benefit of all to me is the

quote:

After six months service, employees are eligible to purchase products at 40% of retail price.

I could have fun with that!

Maybe if I go to Harding University in Arkansas I can apply for an intership Smile.gif

I have heard a lot of bad things about the promedias on these boards and others, with many complaints. Recently I got to hear them for the first time at the local high end show. I spent almost 12 hours in the Klipsch rooms with a friend who sells for them regularly. The demo was done just for a laugh as follows:

One pair of RF7's were connected to an Accuphase E407 using some seriously expensive cable and an Accuphase CD player as the source. Sitting on top of the RF7's were a pair of Promedia's with the sub at the bottom connected directly to the Accuphase.

When people came in we told them the RF7's were playing and no-one questioned it. In fact we were, of course, running the Promedias and no-one could tell until we switched sources. In fact many people called us liars to our faces when we did tell them and went off snooping around the units to "see for themselves".

If I recall correctly we sold 150 sets of promedia 2's and 4's over the weekend.

On the last day we swapped the signs on the KHorn setup with the promedias (neighbouring rooms) and told people the Khorns were the new ultimate Promedia computer speakers. Few bought it, but one woman was shocked the computer speakers were so large! LOL.

Anyway in summary I, for one,m was seriously impressed with the sound - especially for the money. No, I wouldnt swap out my Heresy's for them but I would certainly welcome them on my computer.

Just wanted to mention that it is very possible that PWK does NOT condone anything (and I'm not saying anything being done now is necessarily wrong). After all, he no longer owns the company. We can't infer anything about his thoughts/feelings about the direction of the company simply because it bears his name.

I do know he has been engaged for very many years in the development of a new high end system that will blow your doors off.
