dexter
Here is my current set-up... Pioneer elite VSX-53TX receiverSunfire Cinema Grand 5 channel amp... 200 x 5Klipsch RF-7, RC-7, RS-35s, RSW-15 Can anybody tell me if I will see any noticeable improvement by replacing my Pioneer Elite to the DMC-1 pre-amp separate. Does running my pioneer elite receiver in conjunction with the sunfire amp muddy up the sound in any way. Thanks in advance for any help to my questions. dexter
Just found a B stock DMC-1 for 1400.00. Very tempting.... Much more within my budget vs the JL audio F113...
JetJockey
dexter, hi there, I am in a similar situation with a Yammy 2500 as pre/pro and it sounds very good with most material. I am planning on getting the DMC 1 as well and am hoping it will sound alot better especially with CD's. I am going to call and ask Lonnie what he thinks, besides with their 30 day moneyback warranty its worth a try for me anyway. From what i gather they use "audiophile" grade DACS and the processor is supposed to be awesome. If you get yours first be sure to post your thoughts please. Chris ps..just called Emo and am waiting for Lonnie to call back, he is at the warehouse. will advise.
dexter
I guess my only concern will this company be around in another 5 or more years to service any of there products. New product with little company info. could be considered a risky investment. Am I wrong for assuming this?
JetJockey
Hi Dexter, no, its a good thing to think about, but they have been around for about 3 years now, and are in the middle of launching new products as we speak with lots more to come over the next year. I am so impressed with their stuff that after speaking to Lonnie this aft, in which case he stated that the DMC1 is an awesome piece with Burr-Brown 192/24 DACs and a top of the line Motorola processor he figured it will sound way better than the Yam, I should hope so!...lol. But I just wanted to hear them say so..hehe. Bottom line, I pulled the trigger...new DMC1 enroute from Nashville! Chris
Fish
Congrats on the dmc1 I have the Ultra set in my 2nd room,Emotiva will not be beat in bang for buck.I had an HK in that room which was my favorite of all the Denons,Pioneer,Onkyo etc...(I've owned several of each around $1k).There is no comparison with even the lowly Ultra set to these avrs,it outperforms sonically in every way. There is more to it than dacs etc, many things come together to make a good pre/pro.I'm sold and so is my Rotel in my main room, when the new Emotiva's hit the market. Not to even mention the 40% discount on the new models for previous owners, talk about a sweet deal, thanks Dan and Emotiva. Arky
Fish It sounds like you are now sold on Emotiva. I just checked Outlaw prices & the 990 is shipping for $1100. I thought I had read where you didn't think it was quite as good as the 990. Not sure if I want to give it a trial run or not.
dexter
Congratulations Jet Jockey! I look forward to hearing your impressions on your new addition. The blue backlights that illuminate the faceplate looked quite impressive. I am real close to pulling the trigger...

I thought I had read where you didn't think it was quite as good as the 990. Not sure if I want to give it a trial run or not. The 990 is a great unit,I only prefered the Rotel 1068 by a little(for $500 more). The lmc1 is not quite as good as the 990,a few less features, but a few the 990 don't have, and a few quirks for some(not me).The sound is close but I still give it to the 990,really good 2ch too.The lmc1 and lpa1 were delivered for $200 less than the 990 sells for,a spectacular deal.I assume the higher end to be even better. Arky
Wouldn't be much of a change then for me. Heck i'm kinda excited to be going backwards, waiting on a 70's Marantz 2245 to be serviced. I was in junior high in the 70's & never had the high end stuff.
JetJockey
Thanks guys, it will be my first set of seperates and a look at the higherend stuff (quality wise) for me. Should be alot of fun and a great adventure for me personally. You can rest assured a few pics of that gorgeous "cobalt" blue faceplate all lit up and my impressions will be posted once I get it. I'm thinking 10 days if its the same time enroute as my MPS1. Over at 123.com forums they call the pair the "Big Dogs"...lol Regards, Chris. JetJockey
Hey dexter, congrats to you my friend, maybe we can start an Emotiva owners club..lol. Fish, can we sign you up? Spoke to Dan today too, what a really personable genuine nice guy. How many presidents actually pick up the phone and chat about their product, life experience etc..we had a good ole chat for about 15 minutes. dexter, make sure you keep us informed of your new gear. Chris.
dexter
Chris, I will post my impressions sometime mid next week. I have problem now....I have a 5 channel amp with a 7 channel processor & and a 6 & 7th channel speaker that will be unpowered once the DMC-1 is installed. Any suggestions on a 2 channel amp $200.00 or less.
JetJockey
dexter, I am in the same boat as you, 7 ch pre/pro with 5 ch amp(MPS1) although I have the ability to add 2 more channels if I wish. Personally it doesn't bother me as so few flicks have true 6.1 anyway and I never use the fake surround modes I always use DD or DTS standard modes. Once we start getting true lossless 7.1 soundtracks on BR or whatever I will get my last 2 channels. The DMC1 will use your surrounds as phantom rears when you tell it you have no rear surrounds. I am far more concerned with the increase in SQ in movies and especially music, Dan figures we will be blown away...can't wait. As far as an amp for $200...used or a PA amp like a Crown or such although I wouldn't go that route, not with a fine pre/pro anyway. Did you look at the EMO LPA1 125 x7 ch for $499?.(.lol.ok forget that I see you have a Sunfire. Perhaps 2 Emo monoblocs at $189 each though?) dexter
Chris, I just changed my order in transit from a DMC-1 to a MMC-1 processor. The 2 processors have identical guts with the exception of no balanced inputs on the MMC & a stripped down remote. The MMC has a built HDMI switcher where as the DMC uses an external. Cosmetically I am torn by both models... 1199.00 for the MMC vs 1499.00 DMC Hopefully I will not regret this Jon
JetJockey
Jon, I doubt it very much. I was thinking the same thing but i got the DMC1 for $1400 because I also bought the MPS1..so for $200 I thought why not, it matches the MPS1 and I understand its quite the remote. Me thinks we will both be happy! Chris
